Goode has been producing carbon ski poles and water skis for 20 years. In recent years they began making snow skis, utilizing carbon's high strength-to-weight ration and shock absorbing properties. The Fire has a torsion box construction with carbon, wood and carbon steel. "The core construction works well to keep the ski light and maneuverable, even in the morning bumps," said Ertl. "It's light, easy to ski and quite stable on the groomers." A 98 mm waist and tip and tail rocker adds flotation and maneuverability, but the carbon adds the dominant trait. "It's super stable at speed," said Mahon. "The stiff tail is good through the finish of the turn."
