Faction skis are designed in Verbier, Switzerland—a stop on the Freeride World Tour. This was the first time we had Faction skis in the test and former U.S. Ski Team member, Erik Schlopy, called the Prodigy "the biggest surprise of the day. I thought it was a powder ski, but it was great to lay it over on the groomers." Known as a rockered freeride twin, the Prodigy has a 98-millimeter waist, tip and tail rocker and a full sandwich construction with a poplar and ash wood core. Faction's STP technology adds a wave down the ski for increased torsional rigidity and reduced core weight. "It's a little stiff in moguls and heavy edge-to-edge, but very stable in most conditions," Flickinger said.
