Faction Dictator 1.0 ski review, 2017/2018 men's All-Mountain Front Category, from our equipment experts at Realskiers.com powered by Masterfit.

Faction was out in front of the "lighter is better" wave, using flax as a dampening agent in its lightweight skis when most manufacturers still associated the fiber with Rumpelstiltskin. The new Dictator 1.0 is the narrowest ski Faction makes, so you know it comes from an off-trail family of wide-bodied skis. The Dictator 1.0 pulls off a neat trick for a deeply double-rockered ski with a tapered tip: its dual radius sidecut makes if feel deceptively quick into the turn where the Titanal in its core can take over and keep the edge calm. All the elements that make the Dictator 1.0 special are off-trail oriented: extended rocker (36cm in the front, 20cm in the square-tail caboose), gradual sidecut to enhance steady flotation in chop and above all, light weight that doesn’t feel flimsy. Trainer to thousands of bootfitters, Bob Gleason of Telluride’s Boot Doctors described the Dictator 1.0 as “Damp yet responsive. The shape makes it feel easier skiing than expected for this length (184cm). Smooth at speed with an automatic feel in direction change.”
