Gasteiner Valley: It's Three In One, Plus Spa After Spa -
You get three villages, 18 spas to keep you healthy forever, and more than enough skiing and riding to make a winter holiday fun.
Those three villages are supplemented by four ski mountains with some 200 km of slopes, taking you up to elevations as high as 2700 metres above sea level. All levels of skiing and riding are included and the variety is everywhere.
Each village has its own individual character. Bad Gastein is for guests who are drawn to the architecture and comforts of the Belle Epoque. Cultural offerings, entertainment options, and world-famous casinos create an exclusive feel to the area. Bad Hofgastein has its congress center and luxurious spa facilities for peace and relaxation. Dorfgastein is located in the midst of the Gastein mountains.

Choose between the ski alliances of Stubnerkogel-Angertal-Schlossalm and Dorfgastein-Großarl. Stubernerkogel is accessed by gondola near the train station on the main street. You'll find a permanent race hill on GroBarl, the World Championship-calibre Graukogel, with its long and challenging runs. Don't miss the high-alpine Sportgastein.
You can't come to this holiday region without taking in the spas with their reputed curative powers. What do you want cured? Give it a try.
Munich is the gateway airport (237 km). Trains leave every hour from Munich or Salzburg. Drive the Tauern Autobahn to Bischofshofen, then national road to Badgastein. This is on the major route between Germany and Italy. There's plenty of lodging and some claim Bad Gastein welcomes more overnight guests than any city in Austria except Vienna.
