Ounasvaara

The capital of Lapland and close to the Arctic Circle, Rovaniemi's most famous resient is Santa Claus, who lives 10km out of town and welcomes visitors. However his popularity may be overtaken by the world's most northerly McDonalds, also located here. Downhill skiing is relaxed, and there are plenty of alternatives including horse and reindeer-drawn sleigh rides. The Sky Hotel is located at the top of the lifts.
