I grew up skiing Snowy Range, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. In the last few years I have been to several resorts in WY and CO. In my opinion Snowy Range is one of the best places for beginners and lower intermediate skiers to go. The slopes are almost always free of traffic and the conditions can be really great at times. If you like mogals, they have some great bumps here. The mogals are not normally really deep but they are placed in great spots. It is also a good place to learn how to ski mogals. Lifts lines are never long, and they lifts are set up well so you are not sitting on them half the day just to get up the mountian. So if your goal is to make a lot of runs, this is the place to do it. They don't get the epic snow that a lot of ski areas get so there are times when a lot of runs may be closed due lack of snow, but I will always love Snowy Range.

If you fancy yourself an expert skier, you had better think about a little tougher mountian to ski. But if you want to enjoy a lot of fun skiing with friends and family, this is the place to go.

Snowy Range is just a three hour drive from my Nebraska home. The price is reasonable, lift lines are short, and the slopes are uncrowded. The trails are fun and the greens are safe enough for small children. I would recommend this area to anyone. My best powder day was here on 03/21/2008. This what skiing is supposed to be.

Not wanting to sit in traffic for hours on I-70 myself and a buddy of mine decided to drive up to Snowy Range from Denver. We both had never skied there before so we were looking forward to see what we would find. What we found was 250 acres and 27 trails of all types and challenges and a really good day of skiing. There are no high speed lifts, and on this day they only ran 2 of their 5 lifts, 1 on the front side of the mountain and another on the back side. Ok, 3 lifts if you want to count the magic carpet for the kids. If you like to ride as much as possible and not wait in long lift lines then this is a really good choice. Every time we got in a lift line our "wait" was never a wait at all.

The drive from Denver is 150 miles, give or take and an easy drive to make. We were on the mountain just after 10 and back in Denver before 6, having left Snowy Range at 3pm.

Snowy Range is small, but offers alot. Parking is free. Tickets for adults are $41, cash, check or credit card. Yes they do take checks. The day lodge is huge, the ticket windows, restrooms, gift shop and rentals are on the bottom floor and the food can be found on the upper floor. They offer a decent and varied food selection. And the upper floor seats 850 people, there are tvs to watch sports on and plenty of windows on which to look out at the activity on the mountain. The ski school is in a separate building and the ski patrol in another building. One thing you will notice is the ski patrol are all over the mountain, at the top of each ski lift as well as throughout the trails. So they are never too far away should they be needed. We did see some rails, boxes and jumps in some of the terrain park riding up the lift, but how much there is to ride and do tricks on I dont know. So I rated it average.

If you want an easy drive on the interstate without the hassles of traffic jams and are into skiing for the sure enjoyment of it no matter the destination, give Snowy Range a try. I will certainly be back.

Snowy Range was only operating 1 of the 5 chair lifts on Dec 29. I asked several employees why the others were closed and got a different answer from each one. The former bunny slope was closed which was a great place for inexperienced skier's. I did not find the posting of the partial operations on their web sight or any signs at the slope. I feel they should either open more lifts or at least let potential customers know that they are only partially operating

My family and I went to Snowy Range 2 years ago when I was 15. I had been skiing twice before, and was pretty good at it, but I didnt like to go very fast, and I liked long, safe looking runs. Snowy Range was amazing. Although my mom fell the very first day before she ever got to ski. She fell getting on the magic carpet, and broke her elbow on the metal box and concrete off the the right of the carpet. She didn't get to ski. My dad and I had a great time. The intermediate runs are awesome. They are super long, and not crowded. They are the kinds of runs where you can just let yourself go, and not be worried about stopping. It will level off so you don't have to. Plus, all the runs are through the woods and it is beautiful. I love Snowy Range and I would definitely go back.
