This was my second trip ever out West. Went Dec 16-19, 2007. Originally scheduled Steamboat, but lack of snow there and abundance at Targhee made my change to GT. Was I ever glad. What a great experience. NO LIFT LINES. The lightest powder I've ever seen. Plenty of snow (and was only Mid December). The friendliest staff. And great lodging for the price. It was fogged in and snowing 2 of the 3 days I was there, but, I LOVED IT. Made me felt I was in the middle of nowhere with the whole mountain to myself. Gotta get back there next December.
We skied Grand Targhee in late March 2008. There was a big snowstorm that day and visibility was awful. The much-vaunted views of the Tetons were completely obscured. Furthermore, of the three non-bunny lifts, one was closed due to high winds. But, guess what? We LOVED it. Grand Targhee is a very special place and we felt lucky to ski there. We stumbled across gigantic open bowls of deep powder and skied through forests of snow-covered pines. Not just our skis but our boots -- all the way up the calves -- were buried in powder as we cut fresh tracks one run after another. The terrain was plenty steep for advanced but not extreme skiers like ourselves. The lifts are speedy and efficient, the lifties were smiling and the whole place had a party atmosphere. Even the french fries were outstanding. Another point: if you have youngsters in your group, GT has the best bunny hill area I've ever seen anywhere, with a good variety of runs, tree skiing and respectable mini-pitches where you can actually get in a few real turns. (Much better greens than Jackson Hole.) In short, if there's any way for you to get to GT, go there!
Targhee has the most reliable snow in the country! It is April and the snow is like it is January any where else. Lite and dry no ice in the morning and slush in the afternoon. Targhee best powder can come this time of the year. They will close April 13 I think because there are not enought customers to stay open. Come try it out if you can you won't be disapponted. 137" base 560" total = powder like anywhere else hopes for
I am an Alta lifer, but in the past two years Targhee has been great. The snow is as good and if not better at times this year. I drive 180 miles every weekend just to enjoy the small crowds, and the abundance of great powder. With over 2000 acres to enjoy, you can always bust new trails through the powder, and finally the staff at Targhee have been great, in all matters. Looking foward to a great 2008/2009 year.

I live here in Teton Valley. This has been an outstanding snow year, the powder has been never-ending, haven't skied a groomer at GT all year!! The storms just keep on a'comin....
Recently went to Park City UT - couldn't wait to get home to "my resort", great pow, no lines, friendly faces!!
The best place ever - I'm so lucky to live here!!!
I've been to Targhee a couple of times this month (the joy of working in the Teton Valley!) the snow has been amazing. We have had some incredible storms that have put down unreal amounts of snow! The lines are short, the lifts are fast, the Grand Targhee staff is awesome and the snow is great - what more can you ask? Overall the mountain is fairly steep, much like the resorts in Jackson and Teton Village, Wyoming. It's a nice family place as well.

I love the resort! It is one of my favorite resorts of all time. I make a trip up to Targhee every year. I love the terrain, but my favorite is the snow. I have never been disappointed by the amount of powder that is there! I am hoping that this year it will be the same because I will be there in a week. I am crossing my fingers for a big storm to roll in!
The targ is unmatched by any other resort when it comes to bomb pow, hospitality and a really laidback atmosphere. Ive been there twice this year on a recommendation from one of my boys. The place is always getting snow! And not just your typical powder, these flakes were big floaters the size of silver dollars.
Dont let the 4 lifts fool you. They have 2000 acres just waiting to get violated by board or ski. Taught my gf how to ride there also. Great staff! THanks Trecia! Really friendly crowd. Small village, but that shouldn't matter too much if you are in search of the best snow.
Went and road at sugarbowl in tahoe on my way home. NO COMPARISON!!!

Put it this way, if I hit the lotto, I am buying a place at Grand Targhee. Last year, me and some buddies showed up on 10" powder day and literally felt as if we owned the resort. If you can see it, you can ride it at GT. We were still cutting through untouched POW when the lifts were shutting down. It's not as challenging as Jackson Hole by any stretch but I was not thinking about that when I was inhaling light, dry POW all day long. Max lift time was the amount of time it took me to take my back foot out of the binding and sit down in the chair. The staff treated me as if I had known them forever. This pic shows the INSANE lift lines that we tolorated on a powder day.
Riding GT is like being in a video game. We will see you March.
Targhee is one of my favorite resorts. The views of the Tetons are amazing and the snow is always great. Lift lines are short and you never have to worry about anybody poaching your powder because there is plenty for everyone. If you like to hike for your turns there is plenty of accessable terrain and the backside is awesome. The terrain is decent but there is a lack of expert terrain unless you want to hike. The park needs some improvement but with as much powder as Targhee gets who wants to waste a day in the park. Great resort, great snow, great atmosphere.
