So this is a nice place to ski if you are warming up for a trip out west. If you just want to ski, this is the place. The lodging looked a little scary and the restaurant was the typical midwest ski resort greasy spoon. (We took a picnic lunch..I highly recommend doing so). Alpine Valley is old and the lifts are spaced out (i.e. when you get to the bottom of the hill it is a haul back to the lift). Overall, decent experience but will not likely return as there are better alternatives within a couple of hours of driving.---Midwest Ski Couple

Local ski areas have to do a better job of getting people up the hill. I know we are talking the midwest but there should not be this lack of organization at every lift line. The lift operators need to pay more attention to the alternating scheme of skiers from two lines and also the singles line. Never seems organized at Alpine Valley.

alpine valley is really turning things around this year, there the only resort with 2 highspeed qauds in the midwest to help speed up the line on the weekends, theyve made a ton of new features this year for there park and more to come is the word around the hill, also there hasnt been one weekend that ive gone out there yet and there park crew wasnt out there every couple hours maintainging the park that shows some good effort.. i hope alpine keeps up the good work through the rest of the year

alpines park is in prime condition as we speak it has some of the nicest features in south eastern wisconsin i have been to tryol cascade devils head and wilmot and alpines park is by far the best. there lifts work well ocasional stop for the newbs from illinois that are stoned. the only downfall is its hard for a guy to get a bite to eat unless he speaks mexican in the cafeteria but otherwise the hill is nice and is groomed great everyday.

Where to start? I have been a customer of Alpine for about the last five years. And Ive had a season past most of them. I started going there with my school. It has come a long way since I first went there. It is the only Resort that I know of with TWO high speed quad lifts. Makes the lines go a little faster on the weekend. They replaced all of their tow-ropes with wondercarpes, so I do not have to worry about destroying my gloves. Week days are the best time to go, it is not as busy then. I spend most of my time in the park. They have been doing a great job. When I first started going there I think they had two rails, now they have THREE parks, with tons of features. Given the features are not always perfect, but hey it is Wisconsin, what can you expect...? A foot of snow one week, rain the next. The park is a lot of fun. The set-up changes every couple weeks to keep things fresh. Me and my friends can enjoy a mid week sesh no problem. The weekends you have to be careful. The park can get filled with some people who do not belong there. It gets really crowded and you can not always have as good of a sesh as during the week. The rest of the hill is nice. Great beginner hills, and good advances hills. The food is good, a little over priced I think, and sometime it is hard to understand the cafe workers. The lift opporaters are friendly. I would say it is a great place to make a visit to.

the hill was decent except there were too many sale's reps twocking in the woods. the wost part about Alpine is the invasion of families from the Chicago area. The park gets destroyed from beginners and freeskiiers riding off the take-ons to the rails. I went inside for a cheeseburger and I couldn't understand anyone in the kitchen. My only suggestion would be to check and see if the kitchen staff has green cards. Overall good rails, good park.

Ok so here's the deal with Alpine Valley. As has been stated before on the weekdays its really not that bad. Its good if your a beginner but its like anything else once you go somewhere better you don't want to go back to someplace that isn't as good as what you've had.
There are two things about Alpine that piss me off. The first being that nubs don't ski/board within their limits and will try and go down the "black diamonds" as well as the terrain park. The terrain park is supposed to be the most advanced part of the mountain instead the other week I saw parents giving their kids lessons on how to ski on it. Its not only annoying but dangerous.
The other thing is the management. They don't keep their website updated nor do they tell people of run closers because thats how you loose money. But the same day that I saw parents teaching their kids the terrain park wasn't even open till 4. I arrived at 11 30 and they said it should be open in half an hour. I snowboard and the whole reason is to use the terrain park. If its not open then whats the point? Good for a day trip during the week don't go durign the weekend you'll only leave with a headache

I must say this place was a huge disappointment its really just a hill. Also a horribly groomed hill at that I would definintely never go back. The worst part is someone actually recommended it. What? There were a pair of rails earlier in the day and when I went back they were gone and they didnt even fill in the holes where they were.
The previous poster has a valid point in that weekend skiing, not only in Wisconsin but at the big Colorado resorts, as well, is not worth your time or money. I know most people work from monday through friday, but its worth taking a day off to get up there on a slow weekday. There are often no lift lines, wide open runs, and cheaper tickets from monday to friday. I love skiing, I go almost every week (during the week) and I have great times. I would never go on a weekend, not even when I lived in Colorado and skied the best resorts in America. Weekends just aren't worth it, and at the same time weekday skiing is just a blast! Cheaper lift tickets, no or super short lift lines and wide open runs!! Suck it up, take a day off of work and get out there! Its worth it!
