I've got to agree with holsthall - the Birch Glade lift was essential. The Poma was a classic too. And they need better access to the lower Summit Glades area.
Have skied this mountain since 1966. Always friendly, rarely crowded, easy to access off Rte 4 (no access road/traffic), parking/handicap/drop off, LeBus to Killington/Rutland, after ski ambiance. Improvement needed by new owners (2007-8) more attention to grooming AND most of all, MUST CONSIDER REPLACING MID MOUNTAIN LIFT WHICH WAS REMOVED, TO BE REPLACED BUT UNABLE TO BE COMPLETED DUE TO FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS SOME TIME AGO. Without the mid mountain lift (formerly "Tower 10 get off" and "Birch Glades Lift") there is limited access to SO MUCH GREAT INTERMEDIATE SKIING ONLY reached via ONE INTERMEDIATE ACCESS TRAIL ('49er) With frequent wind conditions shutting down the upper main chair a mid mountain lift would provide lots of great skiing on a "not so great weather day." PLEASE CONSIDER REPLACING A LIFT TO MID MOUNTAIN. THANKS. Will continue to ski here until my legs no longer hold me up. Still skiing at 71 yo

Came over from the UK for a week in 2005, primarily to go to Killington. Stayed in Rutland. Snow in both resorts was fantastic and the amount of skiing you could do in a day puts European resorts with there huge queues to shame. Love Pico had a great time there and the views from the top are great. Just wish I could come over every year. Loved killington as well.
MK.
i have travled to pico for many a year and every year i find something new and exciting it is by far the best ski resort on the eastern seaboard the crowds are few and far between and the snow is amazing. the ski patrol and owners are really friendly if they clip your ticket therres a good chance you will get it backits not to small and not to busy its just right im goin this weekend its completly worth the 7 hour drive.

I have ben sking at Pico and Killington for years and must honestly say that Pico is the best mountain. Pico is a skiers mountain with an old world feel and guiet slopes (always much less crowed than the beast of the east). If you like tree skiing the glades are some of the best in New England. All the trails lead back to the same base lodge unlike Killington proper where you can easily get separated from friends and family members (very important if you have kids). The Apres ski scene is great with a cozy pub that has a huge central stone fireplace, and live music on the weekends. If you like or need more excitement at the end of the day you are still close to the Killington access road so you can enjoy all the Apres ski benefits of Killington too. Or if you don't like crowds stop at the Long Trial Inn for a bowl of their famous Guiness stew and live Irish music.
Pico Peak is a great place to ski for a day and should not be missed if you are skiing for several days in the Killington region. The view from the summit toward the north is superb and better than that from Killington. The six runs from the summit to the bottom of the summit express lift are splendid; they are fairly narrow, twist and turn, and quite challenging. They also will be less crowded than ones at Killington. The trails from the other lifts, however are ordinary and have modest vertical drops. Also, Killington neglects Pico, which means that the snow-making and grooming are not as good as at the parent mountain. However, with excellent conditions, the summit trails are some of the best in New England, although they would not hold my interest for more than a day. You could buy a ticket covering both areas and ski a day at Pico and the rest of the time at Killington. My rating of the terrain below is based on the whole ski area; if I were only rating the summit trails my score would be a 5. I gave the terrain park a 1 because I do not recall a park being there, but I last skied the area several years ago.
