We just spent the day at Wintergreen. They've been making snow all week and the skiing is just great! Thick white powder everywhere. It looks like Outer Limits, Lower Cliffhanger, Lower Diamond Hill and lower Tyro are done for the season, but they are piling it on everywhere else. There are a few icy spots, a few nearly bare spots, a few chunky spots and mostly great snow. If you are headed there this weekend you are in for a treat! We tubed two weeks ago and it was a lot more fun than I thought even though at the time it was warm and slushy. Try to fit that in, too.

This is my first trip to Wintergreen this year. It looks like Global Warming has overtaken us here in Virginia. I have been skiing here since 1975 and have a nice condo I purchased in 1978. The value of the condo has increased, but the temperature has not cooperated this year. Last year I was able to ski 70 times. The resort staff and the snowmaking are excellent when the weather cooperates. I love Wintergreen, but will head to Snowshoe if the weather does not get any colder.

Awesome service if you get there early and know when to ski. Can be crowded during holidays but still a fun experience. Wintergreens snow making is awesome, one night a trail has no snow and the next day it is open. When mother nature co-operates it is an awesome area with great runs which are longer than most east coast ski areas.Great restaurants and good skiing, good times for all. Recomend for everyone in nearby region. The hiking trails and views are also breath taking in this area a definate MUST- DO.

I had a blast at Wintergreen, but the slopes could get some more natural snow though. Great layout, but it's mostly for beginners. Look at ratings for more info.

Wintergreen is my other favorite SE resort (along with Snowshoe). Wintergreen doesnt get very much natural snow, which sometimes leads to icy or sloppy conditions. Overall, though they usually do a pretty good job making and grooming snow. If your lucky enough to come here during a snowstorm, its awesome. The layout of the terrain is probably the best of most resorts I've been to. The advanced/expert slopes are separated from the beginner slopes which keeps the beginners where they belong and makes for a more enfoyable experience for people such as myself who prefer the diamonds and double diamonds. They also have a nice intermediate area with several nice blues and one easier black diamond (also separate from the beginner slopes). Overall a good experience.

Hello.

The slopes vary overnight by a huge amount. During the warm weather, there snow is very slow and soft, but in some, more used places, icy. Unfortunately only 3 proper slopes are opened, therefore crowding. Wintergreen shouldn't just be visited for the skiing though, as they hold Virginia's largest snowtubing station.

Thank-you

I haven't been able to visit Wintergreen yet this year, but will in the near future. Now that Mother Nature is cooperating and they are able to start getting the slopes covered it won't be long until they open completely. Once they do they manage to keep a beautiful layer of groomed snow down at all times. I like the friendliness of the staff, the predictable excellent condition of the snow, and the variety of conditions on the slopes. I always run the Intermediate area and the variety of conditions keeps my interest for the whole day. I know of no other place in this area as accessible and such a pleasure to visit.
Keep up the great woork and I will be coming very soon!
