Me and my family went for hollidays vacation (dec. 23/30, 2007)to massanutten resort. My 3 children never ski before and it was the main motive this vacation, let my children learn to ski. We really didn't know very much what to expect at the Resort, because altought we visit all the web pages that the resort has no one we know have ever heard of this resort before. Instead the lack of snow we found and the small of the ski terrain park massanutten has, the ski school was great for my children, the instructors were awesome with them, who by the way, don't speak any english. By their 3er day skiing they were able to ski in green and blue slopes without almost any help (great¡¡¡). We had much fun also at the 2 hour tubbing downhill. The whole resort and most of the installations it has, are excellent, very well builded, one of the best I ever seen. We used almost all and we really spent a great week (altought the inclement wheater we found there that week). The 2 bdr/2 bath condo we had looks like quite new, very well maintended, very clean and as good as any condo around USA. Maybe massanutten needs to have a shuttle bus than take you to differents buildings and installations around the resort (a loop), so you or any member of your party don't depend of the car driver, because the distance between places were not to close or to easy to walk. Excellent Indoor Water park (it really impress us), great sport and fun installations at the club and in fareways restaurant we had the best dinner that week. It's a 4 season resort that has so many activities that you always will find something to do instead you don't ski or play golf.

I traveled Massanutten on Friday Jan 22. The resort had just received 7 inches of snow which made conditions pretty nice. I decide to travel to Mass. at 9:00 the night before, because I found out that they have a special if you’re out of school for snow lift tickets are only $20. As far as the mountain goes the conditions were very good except the steep parts on the two blacks that were open were icy especially Dixie Dare. I brought my little brothers with me so they could have a chance to learn how to ski. Along with the $20 lift tickets, rentals are only $15 on a snow day which made it extremely affordable to take them. The people doing the ski lessons were very nice. We had the wrong group for them but instead of say they would have to wait 2 hours the head instructor got a free instructor to give them a lesson. Essentially my two bros got a private lesson. If are nearby and have a snow day I highly recommend traveling to Mass. it’s only 15 min off the interstate in Harrisonburg.

I had reservations from Dec. 16 -23 at Woodstone Meadows. Initially our stay was really nice but on the Friday night prior to our Sunday morning check out, there was a problem. We found a living mouse in our unit. I understand that those kind of things happen but the response from the front desk (in my opinion) was less than adequate. I called to the front desk @ approximately 10:10pm and explained the situation. I was told that maintenance was gone for the night and that they could send someone the next day to put down a trap. I told the clerk that I was not staying in the room with a mouse. He offered the unit directly below us and stated that because the way the units were designed that the mouse could not get down there. I told him that I was very apprehensive about staying in the unit directly under where we were presently staying. He said the choice was mine and that he was sending "Security" over with the new key. To keep a long story short, "Security" came and we checked out.

There was no concern for the inconvenience that this incident posed to my family. We had to throw away food that the mouse got into, dried foods and fruits that were on the counters, and the food that we could not bring back up the road (milk, eggs, ground beef). I purchased 3-day water park passes for my family that we only used one day of. It changed our Christmas plans because on December 23 we planned to visit family in Roanoke, Va not December 21. We had nowhere to stay, so we went back home to Maryland.

I am an owner at Massanutten (Woodstone) and I am embarrassed to say so.

Massanutten is a great place for family's. I own 4 timeshares and once worked their while I was attending college. With the new indoor/outdoor waterpark open. If you dont like skiing you can go to the waterpark to play. Mass Resort is a wonderful place not only during the ski season but all year along.

Great resort to visit. Good Virginia ski conditions. Waterpark for adults & kids! Farways offers super food and the lodge bar makes a great sandwich!
All you could want and only 2 hrs from D.C & Richmond. Good shopping in Harrisonburg. Private chalets available on VRBO and Massanutten Vacation Rentals.

Came to ski (late Jan) and had a great time. Waterpark in the daytime and skiing at night. It looks like summer golf, swimming, hiking etc are going to be great too. Visited "Massanutten Realty" and are now considering buying a second home so we can visit from DC all the time.

My two kids (7,9) and I skiied at Massanutten Dec 28, 29, 30. Despite the lack of snow, we had a lot of fun. There was practically no wait in the lift lines, the staff was friendly, and for beginner and low-intermediate skiiers the one blue slope and several green slopes were adequate. Night skiing was also good because it wasn't too cold!
We plan to return in February now that they have been able to make snow and all the 14 slopes are open.

Massanutten is not an outstanding resort, however the mountains are not as big, for its location in is a great resort to head up to all the time, they can open very wuickly after a hot streak and stay open well with many snow guns going. the parks are very good compared to virginia's other resorts, with boxes, rails and some sweet kickers

We just returned from 4days at Massanutten. We had a wonderful time. Not only were they making alot of snow, but we also had natural snow. The runs were well groomed and my family did not encounter any icy spots. The people are very friendly and very helpful. We hope to take another trip there in February.

I went on Dec. 30 2006 and the conditions were horrible there is no snow. The reasort appears to be doing all they can to get the place open but there is really no reason to go unless you are a beginner and can learn with the lack of snow. Lift tickets are a little high even with the out of season rates because of the lack of open runs. Everything open is green with the exception of like a half of a blue.
