Deer Valley is a nice place but it is not as great as every one says the food is expensive and not very good. I have skied here a few times and it always gives me a weird vibe the employees are all really fake friendly there nice because they have to be. There is no après skiing at all at the resort you have to go to pcmr

stayed from 3/6 -12/08. Staff does everything for you, very nice. Stayed @ powder run (not ski in/out facility), no problems as you can store skis/boots at the rental area. I'm average ability, skiing one time per year and the slopes were nice. LOVED NO SNOWBOARDERS, AS DID THE WIFE. Sorry, a few bad apples ruin it for the rest. This is actually why we chose this resort, scope it out for bringing the children. Much safer without the boards. Hospitality out of this world, a lesson in customer service. Overall, a wonderful experience. Will return.

I was in Utah last week (Mar. 9-15, 2008) and decided to try out Deer Valley for the very first time on Mar. 11th. Being an advanced skier, I wasn't really impressed with DV's terrain. Most of the mountain is groomed and after a while it seemed as if all of the runs were the same. However, I did find some pretty good expert runs off of the Mayflower triple chair, in Ontario bowl and a very sweet gladed run called Centennial. I also skied each of the runs that were used in the Salt Lake Olympics-which the resort convieniently marks. Overall, the combination of groomers & expert faces made the resort worth visiting. Another thing that I liked about DV was their lift system. Virtually, everything here is high-speed-so if you're like me and determined to get your money's worth, the lift system insures that you'll get in a lot of runs. I was also impressed with DV's lay out. Once you ride up from the base you are distributed into an area in which several of the resort's peaks are easily accessible-moving around is very easy & quick-unlike the Canyons, which I skied the day before. As for the resort's famous food services & mountain lodges, I really didn't see anything special here. I thought that the on-mountain facilities at Snowbasin were much more impressive and the Hot Chocolate and Cookie that I consumed were on par with most of the other places that I've been too. However, I was surprised to find that it was actually cheaper to eat here than it was at Snowbird. Overall, I liked DV and felt that it was worth a visit. It is far from intimidating and is a great place for beginners and casual skiers. The staff & patrol are very friendly and helpful and everyone there seems determined to insure that you have a good time. Terrain-wise, this is not the best resort in the US but they do great job in many other areas.

For the love of all that is holy, please don't let them change their rules about no snow-boarding. No boarders zooming past, screwing up the snow, getting in the way, beaching themselves on the slopes like big, dumb whales and blocking everyone else - it was heaven. It's not like there aren't plenty of places for boarders to do their thing - please, please let skiers have at least one serene preserve! Of course, it didn't hurt, either, that the powder was amazing and the food and service was top class. A sensational experience - easily the best skiing vacation I've ever had in the States, bar none.

The reason for Deer Valley being No. 1 is because they have no snowboarders. The runs are always in great conditions and the bump runs are great for learning. Boaders have a habit of scrapping off the snow in the bumps. I have no problem skiing with the boarders but it is nice to have a place to go where the conditions are really great. Most new or intermediate skiers like not being intimidated by boards rushing by.

Extremely crowded (even on a weekday). What snow there was was skied off. I live in the East and the crowds and icy conditions are what I would expect from New Hampshire, not Utah. Deer Valley is supposed to be known for their great grooming but if they are going to cater to the amount of people I was sharing the crowded slopes with they better learn something from the busy areas back East and realize that grooming once a a day isn't good enough.
Definately the classiest resort in America. Nothing quite like it outside of the Alps.

I thought that Deer Valley was the best place to go ski! One of my coworkers owns a condo there so we got to stay at his place! The service everywhere you went was great! I know my kids enjoyed the Black Diamond Lodge and Ontario run. Overall everything went great! We are planing to go every year until we die. This year we invited my sister. We had so much fun togethter and she loved it! You all should go try it out!
