I was actually incredibly pleased with Seven Springs - I've been back every weekend since. I just remind myself that I am there to ski and that it certainly isn't Deer Valley, Utah. So here's what I've realised...
The first weekend, we made the mistake of getting a room at the hotel. I am driving from Pittsburgh, so its really only an hour but I was meeting friends who were driving further. I suppose for them, an overnight is best, but if we ever decide to to an overnight, we'll stay at the Days Inn in Donegal for 70$ instead of paying 275$ at the resort. And I'll bring some groceries. I don't expect gourmet food on the slopes, but back at the lodge? I want real food. The "restaurant" is really a cheap buffet, I remember asking the waiter about some of the menu items and he said "I would never eat here." Wise man.
All I do now is park at North Face so I can park and ski. I don't go NEAR the lodge. I don't try to get a real meal. Although the fries & pizza at the top of the mountain aren't BAD. I am truly amazed by the amount of beer bottles that get thrown from the chairs, they never seem to make it into the garbage cans that seem to wait under every 3rd lift pole. Makes me wonder if everyone on the slopes is drunk...which would explain the lame food, its easy to feed hungry drunks, they'll eat anything.
I wish they wouldn't groom EVERY RUN. I wish snowboarders wouldn't plow down the face of every bump before it gets a chance to be a mogul. But while I am out east, I'll be there evey Saturday until there's nothing left!

New owners are doing a great job! The addition of the long
desired and pined for, Gunner six pack, shows they will spend their $$$ to improve the resort. Other small improvements include the supper pipe and terrain park at Apin Medeows. In the summer of 06 they ran a machine up the Cork Screw trail. In 07 they completed it with two more swats to the bottom of Goose Bumps. Thanks also for removing the brush, skiers right under the Gunner lift. More brush removel wood really tickle us trees skiers.
I see mounds of made snow build up, ready to be used to fill in after warm spells. Good job.
Last Saturday (3-1) was the best this year. I wore myself out in the 7" of pow. This has to be the first time in five years that a groomer was run up under the Gunner lift and they did it before the snow fell!! It would help if a mobile snow machine where used to build a base there so we could take advantage of any pow we get.
Keep up the good work.

I also am a home owner at The villages and have been a season pass holder for more years than I care to remember. I am excited about the improvement with the lift at Gunner however there does seem to a problem with its operation that needs to be addressed before next season. Mother nature's generious amount of rain this year overshadowed what she gave us in snow. The resort has shown improvement with moving it around as the season progressed. As far as pricing goes, the food is expensive but the lift tickets are comparable with local inferior ski areas. The review that someone wrote refering to patrons as trailor trash was a bit harsh and snobbish. If rates do increase I would like to see expansion of the western slope develop and a larger lift on the front side at Goosebumps. I am oppossed to increasing condo development at this point and feel the new owners should focus on maintaining the quality of skiing we have come to expect at 7-Springs. One last note...that maze of SLOW signs at the base of Northface is over-kill. Molly

Saturday morning my son and I got up early arrived at the mountain at 8:15am so that he could enter the superpipe event that was being held later that day. On the way up we were concerned that the snow report was not accurate parts of the turnpike had no snow some had a little more the report said 7" new snow as we climed up the mountain it became apparent that what the report said was true there was 7". My son signed up for the pipe event I went to the lodge got my skiis on skied a couple of runs on Wagner the snow was a bit crusty( the lift operator said it rained for about 10 minutes Friday night) there was some powder in the trees next to the alpine slide which was what we came up for. At 10 minutes to 9am I got on the six-pack headed for the north side I was on the 2nd chair behind the ski patrol. When we got off the lift the ski patrol guys headed for Gunnar Slope crossing Giant steps I knew they were looking for the same thing I was 7" of fresh POWDER. When we got there the slope was groomed WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THIS PLACE there are very few POWDER days in western Pennsylvainia and the Groomers ruined what could be the last one this year!!! Come on guys with all the slopes you have why can't you leave some of the slopes alone. The skiing was still good and after I cooled off we had a great day. Found some areas where the snow was under the trees (can't get a snow cat between them) They needed the snowcat in the pipe to clean out the bottom! But all the entrants had a great time and they gave away some great prizes.

Please leave some powder on the mountain we powder chasers don't get many chances in W. PA or we will save our season pass money and go west!

Oh and by the way what is the mess of slow snow zone fence at the bottom of north face.

Have a great spring snow season!!

I am also a home owner here at Seven Springs and I disagree with the last posting that the resort is changing for the better. I have had a home here for 8 years and right now I am seeing more resales with lower prices. Now that Nutting has purchased the condo property I am sure we are going to see a change here also. Prices have gone up a lot and the place is a crowded as ever. The new Gunner chair is faster but the lift lines are still as long and I have lost count of how many times the chair has broken down. Hidden Valley is going to show Seven Springs up real soon and if rumor has it they will be operating Laural next year. Seven springs will never be more unless they expand the ski area. I am always amazed how you can't leave the base area on a Saturday because of the learn to ski area is right outside of the main lodge and it is land locked. They need to make a true beginner area away from the base area. Nothing like trying to come in or out of the lodge and there are hundreds of first time skiers. Food services has gone down hill for years including Helens. Very average food at best. Overall Seven Springs is average and if I had to travel to get here I would go to another resort.

I am a property owner at 7Springs with a great 3BR, ski in, ski out condo right at the top of Avalanche. Please do not listen to these reviews that whine and complain about changes and increasing prices. This place is changing for the better and its great for the property values. They are building more townhomes and patio homes at the top of Stow. These will be priced starting the $400-$500K range. My wife and I are already on the list to buy one of these. The rumor is that the Nuttings want to clear out the trailer trash and send them over to a neighboring resort. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with that. I am more than happy to pay and extra $10 for a lift ticket if it shortens the wait and allows them to continue installing the upgrades. People think nothing of paying those kinds of prices to go to Kennywood or Cedar Point but they gripe and complain when they pay $50 for a lift ticket and get 25 rides up the mountain. It just shows what a warped sense of value some people have. The Nuttings are trying to make it into a first class resort and, in my opinion they are succeeding. If you can't afford first class try Wisp or Hidden Valley. The skiing has been excellent this year and with all the snow we got this weekend I am looking forward to another great weekend of skiing.

we went to 7 springs for the president's day holiday weekend and just because of the holiday weekend, it was a mess and most expensive. the lifts moved slow but at least they were sending them up full. everything else was just expensive and not worthy. i'd have paid more but nothing about anything was worth more.

7Springs is on the change but for the better? I don't think so and either do many others that have been here for many years. It has been nice to see so many upgrades to the overall resort but with that has come a huge increase of prices. Portions are smaller and the food pricing is out of this world. 3.00 for a 20 oz Coke is crazy since it is a 50% increase from last season. I have had the food service people tell me that the Nuttings think this is like a ball game. Nuttings have ruined the Pirates and now they are coming after our resort. It has been said that prices will continue to increase so that the "trash" leaves 7Springs and visits the neighboring resort. Well if Hidden Valley gets Laural open you will get your wish and many people will leave 7Springs. Today 2/9 the conditions were very poor. There are areas that the snow is snow is so thin that is was nothing but rock buy there is a massive pile of snow sitting on Alpine for a half pipe. Why not spread it out so we are destroying our skis? 24" Base? Maybe in a select area. Snow report is never correct. It is always packed powder even when it is all ice.
Herman we miss you

I'm a season pass holder to seven springs. The mountain is usually in perfect condition except for what they like to called packed power which is aka packed ice. Also I can't understand when 7springs says they got 20 inches of fresh snow and I go there to find bare spots every where on the mountain. Whats the deal with that? It is a great resort though but I think they just need to be a little more truthful with there snow report and quit telling people they got 20 inches of snow and have bare spots all over the mountain.

We stayed at Seven Springs on 27th and 28th this December and had a great time. While this was my first two days skiing, the lift operators and everyone there treated us well and the varieties of runs were great. The mountain was well groomed in the morning, and even in mid afternoon with a slight holiday crowd the waits at the lifts were no longer than 3-4 minutes and the trails held up well with new snow blown the night before each day. By the end of the 1st day I was trying a few of the blue runs, and the second day felt “OK” on them, no falls, but still pretty confident. Overall I’d highly recommend the resort and the other amenities, including bars and hotel.
