What a wonderful experience. We took advantage of the Midweek Ski and Stay package, which put my wife and I and our two kids on the slopes for two days, including rentals and lessons, and a king suite hotel room for just over $200. One of the best bargains we've ever had.
The hotel is just incredible - very "Western" feel - if you've been to Disney's Wilderness Lodge, you'll know what I'm talking about. Fireplaces and sitting areas overlooking the slopes everywhere, with lots of comfy chairs and coffee table books. Heated indoor pool, heated outdoor pool, and two outdoor hot tubs/jacuzzis. Room was spacious, very nicely decorated, and had lots of everything (pillows, soap, etc). Staff was incredible, from the extra blanket to helping find my lost cell phone to accomodating some special needs.
Oh, and the skiing...all trails were open except tubing, and all were snow-covered with at least 24-36". Couple of bare spots, but out of the way and well marked. Very little ice, no lift lines whatsoever. Ski School was staffed by really hands-on instructors who took what I thought was an inordinate amount of time with each person. Rentals were a breeze with their great computer system; lockers were plentiful. Lots of food right off the slopes.
All in all, we can't say anything bad about our stay. This place is a "secret", so I'm hesitant in telling you all about it, but I wanted to give them props for such a great time. Make sure you put this on your "must ski" and "must stay" list for next year!

Decent variety of terrain for such a small mountain. Snow making is the best in the poconos. Skiers lift on the right side of the mountain is ski-on most days. There's some nice cruising blues and greens over on that side, and some short steep blacks. Stay away from the steeper trails as they do ice up and are difficult to negotiate when you can't grip the mountain. The two beginners lifts are ludicrously packed and the 3 beginner slopes are an obstacle course of falling children. The lodge is the nicest in the poconos and could stand up against western or vermont resorts. It's a fun, close, well maintained mountain. Grab a 4hour pass you won't need longer than that to hit everything more than once.

Bear Creek is what it is, a small , 500 vertical foot mountain on the western fringe of the Lehigh Valley. So it will never be a mountain that takes your breath away with its vistas and challenging terrain. All that being said, Bear Creek does an exceptional job in customer service and gets high marks for being a great place to take the family skiing and is a terrific hill to teach your kids to ski. The snowmaking at Bear Creek is very good. I am amazed with the variable weather they get how fast they can get the mountain back into decent shape. The base lodge is second to none in the Poconos and better than most in VT (heck, they even have WiFI for those who would rather sit by the fireplace and surf the web while their kids surf the slopes) While I will never be a snowboarder fan, the resort caters to them (smart for business I think) and has what appears to be a terrifc terrain park (not that I am good judge of that). Finally, Sasquatch is a terrific if small trail, it has a double fall line (left to right) that makes skiing the left edge a challenge that exceeds anything at Blue, JF & BB, Camelback or pretty much any Eastern PA ski-area. Again we are not talking Starr or Goat but for 500 feet or so it is great trail to fine tune your steep skills.

I ski Bear Creek all the time. I am highly impressed with the whole resort. The staff is kind and helpful, they do pretty well with moving the lines along quickly, and they groom their runs really well. Their man made snow is probably the best you could find in this region of PA. They have really nice freestyle terrain and when it is cold enough the half pipe there ROX!!!!! Their cafeteria is really nice. Although their rates could be a little lower Bear Creek Ski Resort is HIGHLY recommended in my book.

Bear Creek is probably the most odd mountain i have ever been on. I am on their ski race team, and i have skied every trail more times than i have needed to, and i still havent mastered Sasquatch, it should totally have double diamond status. Nice lodge and really modern hotel that has a sort of rustic feel to it. Cafeteria has really good pizza, really bad fries, and the cafeteria is always crowded *well i only ski there saturday and sunday every week, so of course its crowded*. Overall, i think Bear Creek is one of the best ski resorts in the Poconos.
big lines / icy.. one of the worst mountains u can ever be on. ski slopes are short and narrow. dont go there

Decent mountain, way better then Spring Hill, a little bit of ice on the trails. Packed with little children that will do wide carves and take up the whole trail, there are alot of beginners there and of course the random johnny speedmaster dressed in super bright neon colors that goes zooming passed everyone at the speed of light. Well groomed trials execept for the occasional ice patch. also ignorant little brats that create big snow/ice balls and put them in the middle of the trail i dont kow but they think its funny whenn some elderly person goes runs into them and breaks a hip. it is way more funny when the kids that made the ice bals run into them. average prices, groomed slopes. the black diamond trials are very short and the beginner/intermediate trails are not a bad length. great moutain clean lodge. food is very pricey. i had a slice of plain pizza and a gatorade, it was over 10 dollars but i was hungry. overall an excellent mountain for everyone!

I taught my kids to ski here when they were 2-3. It was good for them until about age 5. It's a great place for beginners. It's more fun than anything in the Poconos with all their flat, overly groomed trails. Bear Creek has some jumps and tree skiing for variety.
Sidenote>
Too bad they have to use so much power to make all their snow and keep it there with all the warm weather and rain in their climate. They can make snow in Florida. You can always count on them to be open.
As a skier I am very concerned about the effect global warming has on skiing, and the effect skiing has, as a result of it, on worsening climate change. Bear Creek really shouldn't be there.

This place sucks. I wasted my hard earned money to ride on rocks and grass. Stay away from this place.

I've been to Bear Creek many times over the years, even from it's days as little ole DOE MOUNTAIN. It's obvious they've underwent major renovations over the last few years trying to make it a destination type resort. The dining and lodging is very good, in fact, a notch above the slopes themselves. Now that the lodge has undergone major renovations, it's time for them to expand the slopes. The slopes are geared for the beginner/novice and on an uncrowded day, you can hit all the runs in just a couple of hours. They have added snowmaking ability, now they need more runs to cover with those new guns.
Overall, a decent place to go if you're not worried about double black diamonds. If you like being out on the slopes as much as you like relaxing by the fire drinking a Magic Hat #9, this is a good place to do it.
