Why are people complaining about the water fountains and food prices in the lodge. I was a season pass holder this past winter and was at the mountain every opportunity i had (about 40-50 days this past winter). I was only in the lodge twice the entire season and that was to go to the bathroom. YOU'RE THERE TO SKI/BOARD PEOPLE NOT TO HANG OUT IN THE LODGE. The mountain conditions are decent considering it's a PA mountain but it could use more lighting at night and that's all people should be worried about NOT WATER FOUNTAINS (bring a bottle of water).

Comparing Sno to Montage is like comparing night & day. Montage was run by the county... enough said. New management is doing a fantastic job! Was a pass holder at Elk 2003-2007. Don't get me wrong, Elk is fantastic, but the snow quality at Sno is much better. Got 18 days/nights on my pass last year. I would say 16 of those 18 days we had good/great snow. No complaints. Looking forward to more expansion/improvements next year.

I agree with Skigal. They wont even allow you to bring your own food and drink in the lodge. Also the lighs there are the worst.
Yes, yes! How dare I complain about little things like lack of water fountains and little or now snow between slopes and lodge in mid December! Especially when I know how Montage operated during the last 10 years and other ski areas run business in PA. I spend almost all my time skiing the blacks/double blacks and appreciate the snow-making but the little things can make a difference to lots of people who aren't necessarily skiing advanced terrain all day.

Oh, I forgot one thing. I can't believe that people are complaining about the resort making snow while they are open. Just like the person a couple reviews before me said, get a pair of googles and a face mask and quit complaining! In a winter like PA is having, I can completely understand why they would like to take advantage of every opportunity they have to make snow. Not only that, but the type of snowmakers they have make fantastic snow in my experience, and I have always enjoyed skiing the "fresh powder" they make.
If they didn't make snow during the day, these same people would probably be the ones complaining that they weren't making enough snow.
Oh, and I feel like I have to say how rediculous the one person is for complaining about there not being snow all the way up to the lodge in MID-DECEMBER! Are you serious? Not only was that was still early season for PA, but it was early season in a warm winter. God forbid you have to walk a little bit from the snow to the lodge. Personally, I would rather have the snow on the slopes anyways....after all, that's where I ski on it!

Skied at Sno for the first time on Sunday February 24. I never had the chance to ski there when it was Montage, so I can't compare my experience to how it used to be there.
Regardless, it was an incredible day. It seems to me that the new management is doing a great job. Almost every trail/slope was open despite the less than ideal winter PA has been having. Not only were they all open, but they all had beautiful snow on them and the groomed runs were done very nicely. The expert terrain(Smoke, Boomer, White Lightning) had some of the best bumps I have EVER skied on anywhere. Was extremely impressed with White Lightning. It had soft bumps and was one of the steepest pitches I have ever skied anywhere. They have some of the best terrain in PA in my opinion.
I really don't understand some other people's reviews. For instance, about water fountains. WHO CARES! I would much rather see a ski area but their money into creating a better experience on the snow. If you are looking for free water, get a Nalgene bottle, go to the sink in the bathroom, and fill it up. It's the same water. You're really telling me you would take your business elsewhere because of a lack of water fountains??? That's rediculous if it is. Isn't your experience on the snow more important than the lack of water fountains???
Regarding the chair lifts that many people have mentioned; yes, they are slow compared to a high speed lift. Personally, I think people have gotten too spoiled with high speed lifts, but regardless what would you rather have? High speed lifts to access crappy terrain and snow, or slow lifts to get to the sweet stuff? Personally, I am reviewing a SKI area here, so I am going to focus on how the skiing was. In case I didn't make it clear already, the skiing was fantastic.
Give the new management a chance to get their act together completely. Remember they just took this place over last year. I think they are doing a great job and it seems that some of the inconveniences created by construction and what not now will be worth it in the long run.
I would go back to Sno in a heartbeat given the chance.

P.S. The 22 foot halfpipe is REALLY impressive. The pictures on the website don't do it justice.
OK, this is my second review in 6 weeks and not much better. Why in heaven's sake can't you put a few water fountains in the cafeteria seating area? Is it because you want everyone to be forced to purchase bottled water? Or go in the cafeteria and spend an exorbitant amount of money on a small drink ($3)?? This lack of water fountains borders on negligent. Trust me, people are not going to avoid the cafeteria because you have the common sense to provide water fountains! Even Snow Basin Utah (luxurious by ski standards) provides them! Wow, what a concept! and they make loads of money as well!
I'm waiting for you to act on this and Elk Mt. is waiting for my next season pass, should you all neglect to provide.
Also, your ski lockers are out of order (again) And you have the nerve to charge $3/basket? For season pass holders this should be FREE.

I don't understand how people can complain about snowmaking, its a SKI Resort, buy a pair of goggles and deal with it. Also as far as i am concerned management is courteous and very friendly. It is understandable that certain areas are still under construction, they are attempting to make permanent improvements. Also the new rental shop design is phemoninal compared to its original set-up earlier this season. Great Job to who ever implimented the new desgin. My kids were through the entire process rental process in under 15 minutes. Cant wait to ride the North Face again soon.

After being an employee of Montage Mountain a few years back, I would like to say much has been invested into the mountain. Their capability to blow snow may be the best in the area. Even though there may have been some instances leaving bad feelings, the talk on the mountain is nothing but good things. Their mountains layout is out much better now. The terrain park has been professionally built as apposed to lift attendants with shovels. You will not find harder slopes in PA than their north face. As with every new business, everything does not always go as planned. "A dissatisfied customer will tell 100 people, but a satisfied only about 5". A little note, on Sun Feb 24 is the grand opening of the 22 foot half pipe.
Good job sno

I went to sno mountain on Tuesday, February 19th. First of all, why is the entire week considered a holiday when just Monday was a holiday? I paid $50 to ski from 10-5 and was happy because it wasn't that crowded. The conditions were terrible and the slopes were poorly groomed (like solid ice). I took 3 runs and decided to see if I could trade in for a 4-hour pass. The people at the counter were rude and wanted nothing to do with me. Talk about lack of customer service. So, I left and spent $50 on myself for less than an hour of skiing. Right now I am on a quest to let them know how dissatisfied I was...but I came upon this site first. I am telling all my friends never to waste their time at sno mountain. If it snows it will probably be good...but because of how I was treated, I am never going back there. BRING BACK MONTAGE!
