A couple of reviews got it wrong!!

"There are no steep runs, go to Timberline".
I've been skiing both places for 20 years, and Ski Bowl has superb steeps in the upper bowl, the best on Mt Hood, and INFINTELY steeper than anywhere at Timberline! This person obviously did not explore the upper bowl, which is also lit at night.

"It usually rains"
Urban myth! Ski Bowl has 17 FEET of snow at the end of April! Do you think they would have got 17 feet if it usually rained? The fact is, during the winter of 2007-08, it rained a total of one or two days, the rest of the time it was actually powder snow, a really epic year!

Great prices and the best overall terrain on Mt Hood.

If you like steep and deep the upper bowl is unmatched by the other Mt Hood areas. One of the few places in the whole country where you can ski steep black runs at night.
Go check out the trees on the right side of Calamity.

The rest of the Ski Bowl has lots of groomed blues and greenies as well.

We love the historic Warming Hut. Fantastic, huge fireplace. Friendly people, great beer and best of all you dont have to head all the way down to the bottom to warm up. More mountian time.

Medows has a great lodge, but it takes over an hour to get down, fight the crowds inside and the long lift lines and then get back to the top of the Mt.

Best value on Mt Hood. Can still aford to take the whole family and we all have a great time.

When the snow level as at 2000' I like to slap on my old C4's and re-live my gold medal run on the upper bowl. When its at 1000' I try on those new ski's with the funny shape and go bang the east wall pretty heavy 8mins up 1min down = 7runs an hour(i am austrian uno). When its at 500' you load up the boada bag and head west young man- to powder keg or if you still have it hike to the top (u no where) and scream all the way down (hang left tho or u walk). And when its at 3000' you hit that little old hut in the middle of the run and drink till you come to like those damn snowboardrs next to you(meet you in the trees past accelerator). I must tell my friend The Herminator about this, he ski's to uno. Remember-sticks & stones will break your bones, but powder never hurts you. "Klaumer"

The area is very small and it's not steep at all. Drive the extra couple miles and go to Timberline if you're going to ski Hood. It's not much steeper but it's much more open.

Good when they get the snow. Quick drive which means more time on the hill. Upper bowl is fun to ski day and night. Outback is challenging and the parks have a good setup. I like it here and continue to come back for the economy part. Lodge and ammenities are for weenies get on the sno

I like this place for the cheap ticket and short drive. Upperbowl is fantastic both day and night, terrain parks are good. Cant beat the amount of night skiing, and who cares about the lodge, i mean do you come to sit around or be outside ripping it up.

Wonderful ski/snowboard instructors! Had my daughter and I up on snowboards and my son racing down hills in skis after a couple of lessons. Fun atmosphere. The staff in the rental shop and ski school are very helpful and friendly (they find the least expensive and best way to go for your needs). The people that go there to ski or snowboard are very friendly. The prices are way cheaper than other resorts but not lacking in quality. My family can't wait to get back up there :)

not to steal hoodoo's motto, but ski bowl is cheap, steep, and hard to beat....its not rocky mountain snow, but the lift tickets are 50 dollars cheaper and its just as fun as anything in colorado.....let the fashion dorks stay in aspen. i will take a 1500 vertical drop, a heffeweisen, and some nice lines over boutique colorado resorts any day.
