mt ashland is a nice little area. some steep terrain, and great for a day trip out of ashland. not particularly well run, it suffers from slow charlifts and a general lack of the advanced amenities that skiers have come to expect. on those nice ski days however, after the big storms or with blue skys, it really cant be beat, just 30 minutes out of ashland. in fact, i've been skiing in a snowstorm on the mountain with 12 feet of snowpack, only to descend back to ashland and find townies riding their bicycles in shorts and flip flops. i've got to pinch myself everytime i make the journey to Mt A.

What a great place to really ski. The weather can be harsh but if you are not prepared for that in Oregon I suggest you gear up. Some of the best pure fall-line skiing top to bottom on lift served stuff anywhere. The lodge is old, small, funky. But the bar is inviting. The staff here really care about your experience. For being 20 minutes from a very livable town you can't beat it.

Beginners will have a tough time here, but the resort has been trying for like THIRTY YEARS to change that. Most skiers and boarders consider themselves environmentally aware. Well, if you want new terrain at our resorts get involved. It takes a handful of activists to stand in the way of change. Mt. Ashland has been trying to expand terrain that would provide more intermediate access. The problem is it is about the city of Ashland watershed. I know the resort has mitigated EVERY concern. So, if you can, stand up for this fun place to enjoy winter at its finest. Ashland has a high base elevation and is actually closer to the coast thatn any other place in Oregon. Hence, it gets DUMPED on quite frequently.

Check it out. Stay in Ashland. Enjoy good restaurants and inexpensive lodging. Well worth the trip.

The most wonderful place to get your ski/snowboard on! It always has the perfect snow, a great lodge. We all want good food and drink after we've been skiing/snowboarding all day. They have it all! The drinks, and the food. They have reasonable prices on rental snowboards, skis, and boots. GO THERE FOR YOUR WINTER BREAK! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!

Not the finest day at Ashland, as there had been no fresh no for many days. Still, this is one fine little hill. Don't let the tiny acreage scare you away - there are some fine runs here, from the ridge to the bowl. Everything here is small and steep - if you are a first timer, you will probably not get the most out of this place. The bowl is a must-see for any serious double-black-diamond junkie. Some of the steepest terrain in the state, and pleasantly dry when there is fresh snow. No high speed lift to the summit, but the trip is short enough that it hardly matters. Plenty of good food, too, if you forgot to pack lunch. Best bet for dinner is to head down to Ashland - but if you stay for night skiing, you can still grab a decent bite at the lodge, if you prefer. The terrain park was closed for competition, but it looked pretty good to me. Fine for the intermediate and expert, but probably overwhelming if you don't like the steep stuff.
