It's a great local destination. Close to the city, great for staying in shape or just enjoying a few runs. Cant beat it for a quick run after work or when the kids get out of school for a little nite skiing
Keep up the good work!

I was learning how to snowboard myself. The bunny hill was the best place. The greatest thing is that they provide exellent services. The lessons are very helpful. I think that Sterling Forest, Tuxedo Ridge is a Can't Miss thing. You have to go there

This was a great place to go with my 4 year old. The staff gave great, simple instructions, that even my 4 year old could understand, and they were very nice to us. Me and my son had a BLAST! The hight of the mountain was perfect for him. Wasn't too big or too small. The mountain was great for me too, a 35 year old. We had so much fun! He's always asking me when we are going to go back!

Love love Tuxedo Ridge......we were depressed when Sterling closed, but this has great possibilites despite slow start in warm January. The snow and grooming have been great, very helpful, friendly staff. Nice main lodge with roaring fireplace and new set-up. Hope this is a "go' for next year as we hate driving to Mt. Peter.

I'd use my name but didn't want to "sign up". I'm certainly not ashamed to say that my 6 yr. old son and I had a blast both Sat. and President's Day of this weekend! I grew up skiing in PA, but was looking for a convenient place for a Manhattan mom to take her little ones to get them skiing. I found it at Tuxedo Ridge! Extremely kid/family friendly and PERFECT for the beginning ski experiences and convenient/routine use. My son had wonderful teachers for lessons. I look forward to going back a bunch and taking my younger one, too. (Maybe my husband will even give it a go!)

I grew up In Tuxedo,I started skiing when I was 5 at this great little mountian. The shool that I went to had a ski day every thursday. The great memories are numerous. As kids our perents would drop us off every day and not pick us up untill closing. I even spent a season or two instructing there as I got older. My son now goes to the same school, last season they were forced to ski elsewhere. We were heartbroken. This is great news. Almost every one that learned to ski with me at sterling, now Tuxedo Ridge became exelent skiers and have gone on to make skiing a family passtime. Welcome Tuxedo Ridge

I went to the new Tuxedo Ridge today with my 3 year old son. The staff was so great and friendly. The instructors, I got a lesson for myself and my son, were great. I also thought it was very reasonably priced. I will be going back as soon as possible. It was an overall great experience.

Sterling Forest is the best for families with young kids who want to learn to ski or board. All three of my kids and (truth be told) I learned to ski there. I don't know about the new operators, but it used to be if you got a Pee Wee pass-for young kids, it included free lessons on Saturdays in January & February. I too joined the Ski Club there, and when I went it included free lessons on Sundays for the members (with the same instructors people were paying for lessons with!). This is how I finally mastered my fears and learned to ski. Thank goodness, as the rest of my family are avid skiers and boarders!

My youngest was riding the chair lift for the beginners hill by herself at 5. Yes, it is small, but you can feel comfortable letting your kids ski or board with their friends, they won't get lost. Beginners hill is entirely viewable from the Warming Hut where families could park their gear and lunch in cubbies. (Season Pass holders could rent lockers for the season for about $125). Even the cafteria let people park and sit most of the day without pressuring them to move as soon as they ate. Compared to other resorts the food was fairly reasonable and good. Even the ski shop and repair center were a deal. Since it is small you really get a lot of runs in and can stand to do a few runs even on really cold days.

My kids loved it and still speak wistfully of their seasons at Sterling! They made friends they still keep in touch with years later! We have been to many resorts since, but there is just something about the homeyness and family loving atmosphere of Sterling Forest that we've never found anywhere else ! We are so happy to hear they are opening again, now if we could just get some SNOW!!!

I grew up skiing at Sterling Forest every weekend it was open...starting @ eight years old.
Loved every minute...Sterling forest is only 25 minutes from my parents home in Ramsey NJ, (where I am now a Realtor). I now live even closer to the mountain in Ringwood NJ. Sterling forest isn't the biggest mountain on the East Coast, but it may have the most character..and definitely great accessibility...the only closer mountain to the city is Campgaw and yea...it's smaller, and less interesting!! As the kids would ski together in organized ski school the parents "Sterlling Forest Ski Club" would have wine and cheese in the Warming Hut and catch up on the last weeks happenings, and their children's latest best times down the Nastar coarse....In my senior year of High School I went through the Sterling Forest Instructors Apprentice program. Not only enjoyed it, but learned a lot and created even more memories and life skills to add to the toolbox...Although I never made a buck doing it, I have now taught my wife and three friends how to ski...Actually I plan on visiting the mountain after the new year and potentially instructing up there, if they'll let me...Haha. Real estate is slow in this particular moment and I would welcome some justifieable snow time!!!!! See you up there folks...It's worth the drive and it's bound to snow one of these days!!!!!!!.....Rob Ferretti (Coldwell Banker)
