I've skied Gore since early 1970 and I all I can say is "SHUT UP" about how good this place is and can be. Short lines, long trails, challenging trails and cruisers, lower ticket price than most areas.... but stop me now,the "Secret" is getting out!! Please do not go here.... we like the short lines and if you all come, that will be a thing of the past. Sorry, but please go to Vermont!!
Gore's simply rock solid. If you're interested in "getting away" and care less about eating out and going out, it's the best in NY. Save bucks by packing a lunch, stocking a room with your own beers, and focus on burning off your energies on the mountain. Excellent varied terrain, something for everyone, from cruisers to double blacks. The glade system is outstanding, the lifts top notch and the staff always happy. Great location for kids, easy access parking, and flat out good stuff. Close the lift and head for 2 cold ones at the Tannery.
on the way from westchester ny we stopped in rhinebeck and ate at gigi's. amazing food, incredible service. awesome tavern across the street, witty bartender. horse bitsand spurs embellish the walls. cool shops including a store selling international hand made wood sculptures acoss the street. town is well kept and full of locals. a small movie theater in the saem street. we have been going to gore mountain throught the last three years. we stay in saratoga springs to have nightlife. we've stayed at the holiday inn which has allowed our dogs and most recently at the saratoga hotel.very cheap hotels compared to other ski towns.its a 45 minute drive to gore each morning from saratoga but the view is so amazing you don't notice. there is an excellent italian restaraunt across from the saratoga hotel. gore mountain is excellent. as all mountains the trails get congested with crowds on weekends and holidays. one indoor gondola. the new northwoods lodge on site has nice day care and tune-up services. new bathrooms, great service. food is not great at gore mountain yet maybe they'll add something new soon.we are big on dining experience. i would say ny ski resorts fail at that. but otherwise gore mountain has good variety for everyone it's a 4 hr drive from nyc and 100 times better than hunter, belleyare or platekill so worth the trip if you can't do stowe. it's equivalant to okemo. the good part about okemo is the town is down the hill from the mountain and with gore you must drive to saratoga. okemo doesn't have an indoor gondola. we try them all anyway. variety is the spice of life

The mountain has a very good beginers program. Gore Mountain also has some very good expert trails and amazing glades. The lines are never long. I loved going to this mountain. If you like skiing like I do, this is the best mountain to go to. I hear that they are openning yet another peak in 2008. I can't imagine this mountain being any better than it already is. The only bad thing is that the food is a little over priced

Gore is a great mountain, despite it's status as the little, lesser known sister of Whiteface. Situated on three distinct peaks, it boasts everything anyone could want in a mountain; short lift lines, gentle beginner runs, long intermediate cruisers, narrow expert trails, awesome glades, crazy steeps, gorgeous views and the best grooming state-run ORDA (Olympic Regional Development Authority) has to offer, without the pretentious air of some other resorts. They run an excellent ski school program for kids, and they are very accomadating with respect to their lesson programs. Gore is also expanding on two fronts; a new lift on Burnt Ridge set to open December 2008, giving it yet another peak, more glades and another five miles of trails, as well as night skiing at the Ski Bowl, otherwise known as "Little Gore", with a planned connection to the main mountain in the works. Even with all the expansion, they retain the small mountain charm and atmosphere that so many find appealing. In short, it's one of the best values you can find in the east, and the food's pretty darn good too. Try any of the soups!

Gore is a gold mine for skiers in the southern adirondacks. Not as well known as neighboring Vermont mountains and sister mountain, Whiteface, Gore has some of the shortest lift lines imaginable. The two different peaks help to separate skiing ability levels, freeing up lots of trails. If you are looking for some awesome glade skiing, ask a local about some "unmarked" glades.
Although frowned upon, you can usually get away skiing some of the best untouched powder stashes in the east. With good pitch on the upper peak, the marked glades are nicely thinned, and ranked amongst the best in the East according to Skiing Magazine, and you can tell why after a good storm. If you are looking for a good terrain park, this is a little tougher, however they are trying to change this for '07-'08 season. With enough vertical to entertain anyone in the family, and a highly organized ski school, don't be afraid to drop the kids off and go ski what you want for the day.
Only complaint would be that it is tough to find lodging directly near the mountain, and restaurants seemed to be sporadically placed between North Creek and 20 minutes away in Warrensburg.
Skied most of Europe and Rockies. For the East Gore and Whiteface are a great alternate.Nice runs---double blacks etc.Dining is o.K.With better coming at gore .Overall i give a thumbs up.I like better than Killington.
Exception:heavy wind shuts down Upper Whiteface/////
This gem has a gondola, long trails and a Vermont feel. My favorite place for a 2-hr drive. Lines are short, trails are roomy, could use more cover, but couldnt they all :-) Bring food and gas, not many places to stop, and the cafe gets a little crowded.

Great resort, no lines even on the holidays and weekends and that is with the parking lot full. You feel like you have the whole trail to yourself. Well worth the extra hour drive past Hunter Mt. Why spend time in long lines for short runs when you can hop on a lift and ski their long trails. Like their motto - MORE GORE MORE GORE !!!!!

Could be an A-1 resort - but why, with extreme hardpack and little cover on top of that has snowmaking virtually stopped? Granted they have been blowing snow on Rumor - but they could have added a lot of snow to a lot of trails with what they blew on Rumor - which is used by at most maybe 5% of the skiers at Gore. How about a break for the other 95%!
