Diamond Peak is a smallish area by Lake Tahoe standards, but it still has an 1800' vertical drop and a lot of intermediate to upper intermediate terrain. The lake views are gorgeous. It's family friendly, and not crowded on weekends. Don't expect Squaw Valley-like steeps. But if you want to avoid crowds and cruise for a pleasant day, go to Diamond Peak.

This is our first trip to Tahoe and Diamond Peak was the perfect place to go for our first half day of skiing. First of all- on a clear day, the views of the Lake from above were stunning. There was a good mix of intermediate and slightly advanced trails. The lift lines were short and the trails clear. By the end of a half session, we did run out of new trails to find, however. The trails were well kept and staff was very nice.

We were sking on New Years Eve day and thing were out of control! packed as it would be on a day like that, and the runs were very icy. As we made our way to the top of the Crystal Express the views were beautiful! As we skied down the ice had turned into rockie road and people were out of control! sking so fast! I was so scared that I had to stop (along the side) many times as I thought I was going to get run over! After I finally got down we thought we would take a break at the snowflake lodge which has beautiful views...wanting a beer they said they close at 3 PM and would not serve us!!! it was 3:02! Many people were frustrated by this and couldn't believe they did this on a holiday.

We love Diamond Peak! It has great intermediate runs for my daughters (ages 8 & 11) and more advanced stuff for my wife and me. A favorite run for all of us is the Great Flume that offers a long, wide run from the top of the resort to bottom. And the views are simply breathtaking, especially at the top! Another nice feature of DP is no crowds most weekends. There is usually no or very short lines and the people are always mellow! I can't wait to get back up there!
Great family oriented resort - friendly, attentive staff with a diverse level of runs. Diamond Peak was dynamic enough to provide great beginner level lesson and run options for my 5 year old daughter (first time skier) as well as for my wife (boarder) and me (skier) with good intermediate and expert level runs - both groomed and powder. We will be returning next season - great time for the entire family!

Nice people, great view of Lake Tahoe from Crystal Ridge run (intermediate); so good in fact one forgets to ski! Snowflake lodge has the best restaurant view in the entire Tahoe Basin and fine chilli. People are nice and friendly, good beginner and intermediate slopes this year - and when there is more snow a variety of black diamond challenges on groomed and ungroomed slopes too - especially Solitude Canyon's glade skiing. Oh, and you can't beat the lift prices at this community operated resort.
The dream of pioneering ski-area designer Luggi Foeger, Diamond Peak, originally called Ski Incline, opened in 1966 with the region's first snowmaking and three chairlifts. With stunning views, affordable pricing, special kids programs and varied terrain, it remains one of Tahoe's premier family resorts. Almost 50% of Diamond Peak's terrain are intermediate. Crystal Ridge Run is over a mile of smooth and wide cruising with magnificent views of Lake Tahoe. Insider tip: Natural glades and wind-dwarfed pines can be discovered in Solitude Canyon, 20 acres of advanced terrain reached also from the top of the Crystal quad.

Observation Deck - Great views. They were out of BEER. The hot alcohol drinks were lousy. For $6.50 they should provide a higher quality. They missed a great opportunity to provide a one of a kind experience.
