Lets hope it is better for next year than this past.
Our decision will be based on snow.

Yes more snowmaking equipment would make this resort a gem.
The Inn of the Mt. Gods is wonderful. Why cant they help out with the mountain and make it more profitable.

Another disappointing snow year at Apache. Perhaps they should consider expanding the snowmaking capability so conditions could be improved during years like this. Most resorts cover much more terrain early in the season to build the base. This resort seems reluctant to spend the money needed to raise the bar and improve the facilities. Ruidoso on the other hand is a wonderful town. After many great years we finally abondoned Apache and headed north. Taos or Wolf Creek are great alternatives not that far away. Thanks for the great years Apache, best of luck with mother nature.

We were there over the weekend of the 14th of March. Decent skiing but could be better so could the food. The town is the best part of going to Sierra Blanca. Still trying to figure out their snow report as it seems to change and be inaccurate through out the season.

We went skiing March 7th, 2008. They say it snowed a foot Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and was Sunny Wednesday, and Thursday night, it snowed a couple of inches. So we decided to call in sick and go skiing on Friday. The facts are that Ski Apache is one of the most southern skiing areas in the United States and they are not going to get as much snow as Colorado.

The mountain as a whole is a great shaped mountain. And where they make up for the lack of snow is the great lift ticket prices. The cost to ski there was $75 for 2 lift tickets. The price and the convenience of Ski Apache from where I live (Lubbock, TX), made our trip a good experience

So having said that, on Friday, March 7th, on the slopes that were open, the skiing was good and there were absolutely no lines on any of the lifts that were open. Well worth the admission price in spite of the indifferent behavior towards customer service as compared to Colorado.

For our first ever ski experience, our family was delighted with Ski Apache. We went in January and stayed in the bunny slope area, each of us taking lessons. I was quite a bumbler, and the instructors were very patient, helping me when I lost my skis, etc. They were also very good with my 8-year old son. We did not eat there. The Mescalero indian drums and dancing at mid-day added an exotic element. Worst feature: restrooms. Best feature: teamwork system and patience of instructional staff. We immediately knew after this experience that we wanted to return for Spring Break. I recommend this resort for anxious beginners who would like to take reasonably priced lessons.

As luck would have it snow appeared after we were at the Patch.
Ski employees were cool but the hill was less than fun.
Patchy ground and no snow left a impression on us. That cant be helped. Guess we will head to a more northerly spot over spring break.
Definately bring your own food.

We were there Feb. 14-17. Only skiied one day though, luckily we had a little snow the night before. Very patchy and icey but we had a blast. I don't know what some of these people are talking about when they say the staff is very unfriendly. We didn't have any problems. I would suggest taking your own lunch and drinks. We waited over an hour to get a DP and hot dog. No seperate lines for food and drinks...the wait during lunch is ridiculous. But that was our fault for not bringing our own stuff like we had originally planned. Great trip and can't wait to go back!

Don't look now but the conditions are getting better just in time for Spring Break. Two storms this week have helped with the snow and conditions are better. Ski Apache is a great place when there's snow and during off-peak days. We're driving over from Texas.

Great views but disappointing skiing. It was okay but nothing to write home about. Guess we expected to much from some of the positive reviews.
