Sandia Peak has had a good year (2007-2008) considering it is a La Nina year. Great snow the end of Feb and in March. The runs have been in good shape and there has been no crowds at all.

Sandia just opened their new terrain park last week and its a good start. They are probably going to expand it over the season. 15" of new snow this week and good skiing.
well...I think it is great for everyone that lives in Albuquerque especially when all the runs are open. It's a great place to go have some fun on weekends with your friends.
Sandia Peak is a delightful small resort with great intermediate skiing. I go there any time i can as the tram takes only 15 minutes to make a trip and i live in albuquerque only 10 minutes away. Even if this is nt Taos, who cares? Where else you can skying in a beautiful setting less than 30 minutes from your place.

Sandia Peak is a small, beginner oriented ski resort located in Albuquerque, NM's. The mountain is the city's local peak that borders the east side of town. Snow conditions are unpredictable given how far south in the state & there have been some lean years of late. If you're looking for a good place for your kids to learn how to ski that's easily accessible, then Sandia is a great place. Access via the tram from town is a definite highlight as it dumps you at the top of the mountain with incredible views & immediate skiing since you can buy lift tickets with yoru tram pass.
Definitely not a destination resort for the hard core as the terrain is mostly beginner & intermediate. If you want to tear it up skiing in NM, you need to hit Taos or go into SW Colorado (i.e.-Durango, Wolf Creek, Telluride).
