Went to red river for spring break-resort was a little busy but overall the whole family had a great time. Everything was perfert as far as enrolling in ski schools and renting equipment. The weather was perfert everyday and it snowed on day. We took the ski mobiles to the top of the mountain and enjoyed the trip. Stayed at the arrowhead lodge which is right a cross the street and was great to just walk to the slopes. We had never been sking before and it was a pleasant experience. We are planning on going back next year. Loved seeing all the mule deer in town. Went to bobcat pass for a snowmobile trip which was great and saw alot of elk near eagles nest. Loved the soup at the lift house and the torch light parade. Children enjoyed the glow stick parade and fireworks.

Went to Red River over spring break 3-14-3-20-2008. We stayed at the Pondarosa Resort. The rooms were big and clean.(older but nice)The staff was as good as it gets. We rented our Ski's at Wild Bill's and found them to have the best price and most helpful staff. When we go back Wild Bill's will be the place to grab or stuff. Easy in and easy out.
This late in the year the slopes were slick with ice. The area was just the best, Gods country. The town has two stocked fishing ponds and a park or two. I will go back. The family and I love this place.
Thanks Red River for a vacation to look back on.

I took my family to Red River for spring break (March 8-13, 2008). My boys have never skiied, and they had a great time in ski school. By the end of our stay, they were skiing some of the blue runs. The mountain is small, but with good runs for all abilities. Great town, with very friendly people. The Timbers was great. Good food, good atmosphere. Willy's was also good for a cheap, quick meal.
Red River is a great place to take your family. We will be back.
My family and I have been skiing RR for the past 10-12 years and love it there. No big crowds, very friendly folks, easy access to everything. Enjoy the snowmobile tours, tubing. Returning this year and bringing several friends that have never seen snow much less tried skiing. Usually rent a condo and do our own cooking, however there are several great places to eat. Enjoy traveling the Enchanted Circle. Have checked out Ski Rio and others. Stayed the first year in Eagles' Nest and skiied AF before we discovered RR. Normally ski Breckinridge, Co where there is more snow but the people there are unfriendly enough to discourage a second trip. Hope you will visit RR and have a good time.

Red River rocks! I went there the last week of February and we had terrific snow and no crowds. I recommend going during the week when there is fewer than 100 skiers/boarders on the entire mountain. They do a nice job of grooming and the smaller trails up top were sheer powder and a blast. Everyone in the entire town was very nice. The Bull was a great bar with pool tables, HD TV's and shuffle board not to mention a dance floor, but with so few in town it was pretty quiet and relaxing. We came across many who just did very nice things for us! Everything from skiers willing to take a picture of my buddies and me skiing to the woman at a store who gave us an item (only $2), but none-the-less free because my buddy didn't have any cash on hand at the time. The lack of a real terrain park I think helps keep many boarders away which personally I prefer.

My wife and I skiied Red River last Friday. The day before it snowed 8 inches. I have never skiied here when the powder was knee deep. It was great conditions with warm weather and sun galore. We have skiied every major mountain in Colorado and New Mex. I keep coming back to RR because I love the town and the mountain suits my ability level. If you are an intermediate level skiier...stay away from the gold chair area. The beginning boarders are everywhere(nothing against them) and going in a hundred different directions. It is a moving obsticle field. I keep hoping that one of these years some new lodging will open. The decent places in town stay booked. BEWARE! The Lifts West looks good on the internet and is a dump. It is nasty. RR will continue to be my favorite place and the Bull one of my favorite bars. This is a great town and hill for families with everything in walking distance.

My family & I love Red River. You can walk anywhere. The locals are super friendly. They will do anything to make your ski trip enjoyable. Great ski town for families.
Watch out........Lot's of new skier/snowboarders but it was fun, kinda like a moving terrain park!! The snow school for little kids was great. Our 4 and 5 yr olds had a great time. Overall we had a nice time.
Best in the West is right - this place was marvelous - family friendly - walk all over town - can't beat it and only 10 hours from DFW area in Texas

I have been skiing (mostly in California, some big Colorado resorts) for 40 years. Having moved to Dallas some years ago, we found Red River and been going every spring break since. The snow pack can be iffy (that time of year), and if you must have steep, bumpy and fast, this isn't for you. But for the family crowd, everybody can get plenty of runs in. The town is wonderful: great people, great food and drink and everything is close. RR is an old gold mining town with an history. We are looking for property to buy in town...
