Like any other ski area, if the snow is good the skiing is good. The owners have expanded this hill over the years from a small local ski area to an area you could ski all day and have a memmorable and varied experience. The snow is, as everywhere else, the key. Due to the town of Helena being the Capital and the folks, in general, snobby, it is not the friendliest place on earth. But that's just a jaded opinion.

The Great Divide is a local hill owned by a family. It doesnt get a lot of snow but if you know were to go you can almost always find fresh powder. If the Wild West area to the right or the Rawhide area to the left are open they usually have enough snow and you can ski runs and not see anyone the whole time. The terrain park is one of the best in the state and every year they host the montana state skiing and snowboarding championships. The place is family friendly except there is a lot of snowboarding a holes. Overall I think its a great hill and the prices are pretty good. But I wouldnt travel to far to come here. Come in the middle of the season when everything is open.

Great Local mountain. Not usually lots of snow, but a lot of fun places to play. The Terrain park has to be the best in MT. They keep adding to it every year.

i am one of the people who went up to great divide the first couple of weeks expecting some of the best sking of my life. And when i found that it wasnt amazing i got on my computer and wrote a review that trashed the place. I am happy to say that great divide has pleasantly surprised me. today was one of the best days in a long time for a ski resort that is cursed with warm weather and little snow. Terian park was the best all year and with the constant snow machines constantly going they were able to keep the ice to a minable. The great divide ski resort has surprised me by adjusting to the harsh climate and making it happen. For anyone that dosnt believe me they can go see for themselves the condition of Great Divide.

i have bean sking all my life and the only thing i like about great divide is there french fries. although it is close the start of the year is sucks ballls. during the middle part of the year you can find some good snow on belmont. the lodge looks like a rentivated 1800's barn with a bunch of punk ass boarders running around. if you can not control these monstors you will permanately lose my business. I can understand that it costs a lot to run a ski hill but the prices are shit. there is no way that a lift ticket for one day should cost 20 dollars for one lift. i dont know of anything on that hill that worth 20 dollars of mine. you guys some way to get some more snow on that mountian before somone gets hurt. the new stiar cases are sweet!

Been boarding for 3 years now and most has been at great divide. Like it because it is close to home. Three problems though. Of course, lack of snow is the big one but since I take my 9 year old daughter almost every friday night I seem to always have problems with the inconciderate little punk-ass boarders that like to cut to the front of the line or cut you off on the hill. Ihave had to stiff -arm some from cutting in front to go up with their buddies and get in the faces of others at the lodge for almost wiping out my daughter on the hill. Don't mind sending a few of them home in a cast but that is not my place. I have complained but don't see much done about it. "86 the little shits"! Another is the lessons. My wife and 5 year old son are learning how to ski. The lessons they took last year sucked ass. Wife felt she was gyped and did not like the way she never knew who was the instructor or a bystander just willing to help. Still like the hill but am going to burn some gas and go to Discovery where they are alot more professional in the way they handle the resort.

A ski hill for the locals. A ma and pa ski hill. Due to the lack of natural snow, its not worth the drive unless you live within 20 miles of the hill. They push that they have lower prices compared to neighboring resorts, but you get what you pay for. Be wary of ski reports, as they tend to be exaggerated which can be very disappointing. They do blow a lot of snow to create a base, but its only on 2 runs that they use for night skiing. Do not hesitate to bring your rock skis, as you will more than likely meet up with a few rocks, twigs, etc. I would recommend bringing a vehicle that is four wheel drive if you have one. There is 7 miles of gravel after you turn off the pavement, and the last few of these miles (from Marysville on) can get quite muddy/icey/snowy/etc depending on weather and time of year. The word is that this section of gravel is slated to be paved in 2008 or 2009. Night skiing is great, although runs are very limited. They have a nice terrain park for the size of the mountain. There is a nice variety of terrain across the mountain. IF, and I focus on IF, they do get a lot of snow, this mountain can be quite fun. There are many acres they can open up to the left and the right of the main part of the hill (Mount Belmont) which they call (Rawhide Gulch & Wild West) that present many areas to explore with the chance of rarely seeing anyone else. Lifts are slow, but if you like to "get away" from the crowds, this is the place. Last year they had Rawhide and Wild West open maybe 2 weeks, with only a few days of good skiing, so call ahead to see if its open and ask about conditions. A nice place to learn. A nice place to hang out with friends.

Bottom line; a nice little hardworking family owned ski hill that is fun when they DO have snow. If the snow is lacking, take the money that you will pay in a ticket, gas, and a tune up on your skis after you bounce over rocks and ski some fluff at the more reputable snow covered mountains in the state.

This area should be closed due to lack of snow. I think global warming sucks too or whatever you want to blame, but I've never skiied anywhere with so little snow. Run would stop and dirt was all that was left and they are still charging full price!

Bring your rock skis. Normally much less snow than anybody else. Snow depth reports are usually exagerated (if they say inches, it's usually centimeters).
