Alpine Valley is the place to ride if you are looking for excellent terrain parks, family friendly resort, and good food. My favorite part is the terrain parks. They have a mini park with small boxes and rails, and another one with a boardercross coarse, big jumps, and sweet rails.

I go Alpine every weekend during every winter for the past 5 years and I love it. The terrain park is great and the snow is always well packed and groomed. It is made for the average skiier and snowboarder and that is great for me. If the rails were a little more waxed and it would be perfect. Yeah look for me there going bigger than you. ALPINE ROCKS

this area is out dated it lookes like they have not put a red cent into the resort since the seventies. The management has bleed this area dry, they need to sell to some one that wants to put money in it, they never give accurate infromation out to the public about the condition of the hill. They have snowmaking but seem not to be able to make snow, they tend to make ice. and their groomers tend to break down alot when needed the most. The lodge and ticket and rental areas are lad out so that you walk for ever before you get to the slope.
Areas like this one tends to deter new skiers from coming back to skiing. and the management is not customer friendly at all you feel like al they want is your money because the service you get is poor al the way around
they should do every one a favor and close or sell

I go to Alpine Valley once a week during winter and i've been doing so for 3 years. The on-hill experience is pretty good considering this resort is in south east michigan. The runs are not anything special- very easy (they claim to have doulble blacks but they should be blue squares). The lodge is ok it is very old but has a nice fire place. Don't rent from Alpine because they're rental facility is really bad and broken down. Most of the staff are rude. the terrian park has good ideas. They have good rails and good jump ideas but they are all poorly put in. The rails would be awesome if they were not lopsided all the time. When the park crew (which i dont even think snowboards) happens to put a rail or jump in right it is great fun. The park is lit for night riding also.

Went to Alpine Valley about 4 times this season. Their snow reports aren't very accurate and the website is never updated. They are reporting 5" of new snow from 2 weeks ago right now. It's a little bit of groomed powder over hardpack/ice. The base at the bottom is a mere few inches. Many runs aren't even groomed and it looks like they haven't made any snow for ages. The facilities are ancient and the rental facility is a glorified barn. Other than that, their runs are good for beginners. Straight, not too steep and wide enough. I didn't use the park so I can't comment on that.

SE Michigan ski area - terrain is about what you would expect (short and relatively flat) Great to have a ski area close to home so the kids get involved in the sport and I enjoy my time there even if I am hankering for somethign longer and steeper.
