I have been taking my boys to Bittersweet for the past 16 yrs. They all learned how to ski there. Now they work there. There have been many wonderful changes over the past 16yrs, and I know they will continue to improve. The lift operators are just great! Paying close attention to the operation of the chairs, making sure everyone gets on safely and if any one gets hurt to attend quickly to their needs. There's is a very stressfull and important job and the whole lift team should be commended for a job well done. The snow makers and groomers are another team that needs to be commended, they are the guys out there from midnight to 5am making sure everyone has nice groomed snow to ski on and a nice base. Making sure those guns are pointing in the right areas, there is alot more going on the the public never gets to see. I commend the Cafeteria staff too. Its hard to plan out a menue for the public. Keep up the good work Bittersweet. and folks remember the work doesn't stop just cause the snow is gone.

We went for the first time 2/24. It is the 2nd place I have been in southern MI (though I have been all across the country). It is a great place to take the kids to learn as our 5 yr old son loved the "magic carpet" over the tow rope at the previous place. I liked the magic carpet also as I didn't have to hold him as I do on the tow ropes. BIG plus. The facilities are clean and lifts are modern with a high speed lift. One request I would make is that they designate one of the green runs as a "slow" or "family" ski zone as I felt like my son and I were going to be run over several times while I tried to teach him. That is the reason for the 4 out of 5 on the family friendly scale. Overall rating and downhill terrain is based on Southern Michigan and we will definitely go back.

I have skiied in Michigan (and out west) for over 35 years. This is the first year I've had the pleasure to ski at Bittersweet. I arrived here as part of my daughter's school ski club, and am very impressed by everything Bittersweet has to offer.
The snow is great, and given that they suffered 60 degree temperatures followed by rain the first week of January, I was surprised how quickly their snow-making rebounded.
The number of "kids" that ski here is amazing, and it makes me feel good to them exercising and enjoying winter, instead of hanging around at the mall, or playing video games. The number of lifts provided by Bittersweet offsets the crowds and makes a day of skiing just that; skiing, not waiting in a lift line!
The lifts all work, the attendants are cheerful and helpful, the lodge is clean and comfortable, parking is close to the lifts and there is night skiing. If anything could be improved, it would be the amount of lighting at night. Some areas of the trails are rather dark.
The hills aren't as long as the mountains up north, but then the gas bill to get there isn't as big either!
I think Bittersweet is great.

i have been ridin at bittersweet for 5 years and love it the sweet express makes it so u can spend more time ridin then sittin on the lifts the only problem is that the terrain park has been goin downhill fast and they need to get up more rails that people can actually hit and the jumps need to be alot bigger if they want to compete the large jumps of other local resorts. also bittersweet is pretty crowded on the weekends with people from indiana.

For Southern Michigan/Indiana, this is by far the best resort in the area.  I took my daughter as a beginner and we were able to progress from their small carpet-lift beginner runs through more advanced runs which I could enjoy.  If you're looking for a Colorado resort, go to Colorado.  But in this area, there is nothing that is better.

Here's the deal. I went to bittersweet and i was looking forward to seeing some progression of the terrain park. But really the park doesn't have anything that sets itself apart from anywhere else. It's always the same old stuff year in and year out. The park is decent but they need to maintain their maintenance on the jumps and rails. They also need to open the park on time with the rest of the resort, and not two hours after everything else.

Peace out

You guys really dissapoint me. I thought bittersweet was going to be up and coming a few years ago but now i can see that it's gone down hill. The terrain park is never open on time. They need to get terrain park builders that know what the riders want. It says that the resort opens at ten but the park is never open until the afternoon.

I used to love this place more, still do. Last year while having a season pass some guy wearing a suit was outside checking lift tickets. I'd have to say I got treated like some punk and I had a season pass!!! It was very unprofessional, down to the man in the suit. Pissed me off for being a rider there for over 10 years. Thumbs up for the best place in southwest MI though. PS groom the park better or there is no point in having that lift there, the kickers are never made right!!!

Bittersweet is my home resort and I have been snowboarding their for about seven years. Its one of the better resorts in the lower part of Michigan but it seems to be losing some of its "charm," so to speak. It just does not seem like their in it for the riders anymore. They are slow on opening terrian, which is part to hiring so few employees. Their terrian park is alright, but they never spend enough time on grooming and maintaining anything. It's still a decent resort but it is just not the same as it was years ago.
