If you live in the northern Indiana area it is a good place for a quick trip. Very friendly staff and decently maintained. It is a good place for older kids 6+ to learn to ski. Kids 6 and under will probably struggle with tow ropes they have. Advanced skiers will not be challenged but overall a good place to get some runs in without having to drive several hours. Reasonable prices. Ratings based on Southern MI area.
I have met "ROY" at Swiss Valley. Thats as in Cordu"roy" grooming. This is always what you hope to find out west at a ski resort. He has now shown up at Swiss Valley. I was there on Wednesday and the grooming was superb. The snow conditions were excellent. Swiss Valley needs to teach all other resorts in Michigan how to groom. Hats off to Swiss Valley. I cannot wait to skip work again in the morning and see "ROY". Go Ski Swiss Valley soon. You won't believe the "ROY" conditions.

The other reviews are accurate in that Swiss Valley is a fun, family- friendly resort. You can't beat the Sunday afternoon rates and live weekend entertainment. We live in Chicago and wish we found this place sooner. The snow is decent by midwest standards.

I've grown up at Swiss Valley it is my favorite place to be by far. It is a great place to learn to ski and snowboard for young and old. The terrian park is excellent with many rails, boxes, and jumps. They keep it up to standards all the time.

Swiss Valley is one of the most down to earth ski hills left in the midwest. Charm and charachter describe it best. The snow is typically good by midwest standards, getting a fair amount of the Lake Effect snow that South Bend gets. Close to home and easy to get to. The bar, usually has live music, cold pitchers and good grub. Very family friendly, group friendly. And the staff. They really are the best. Very pleasant to work with.
The terrain park is my sons favorite. We hit many ski areas over the course of a winter and SV seems to be ahead of the curve when it comes to the terrain park.

We home school, and they have the best value for their home school day on Mondays program of any area in the Indiana, SW Michigan area. The folks that run the program are friendly and accommodating. Sure it's a small resort, but it's 45 minutes closer than the next closest place. Its ideal for learning with the separate beginner hill, and their main "intermediate" run is great for learning to carve turns. The brownies in the cafeteria are great, but it is a bit of a hike to get to the cafeteria from the hills.

I learned to ski here as a kid twenty years ago and it hasn't changed much since. The staff is friendly and the fireplace lodge is simple but nice. There are three lifts on the main property and a seperate bunny hill. It's not very big and the snow is usually pretty icey, but it's close to South Bend and fairly cheap ($25). All in all, it is what it is. If you want to ski and don't want to drive more than an hour it's really your only choice.
