I brought my son and his cousin up to Ski Brule for there fist time skiing. I enrolled the two little ones in Skiwee Class and headed to the slopes. I wasn’t sure how it would all go, but I was very pleasantly surprised - the day turned out to be a total success and we all had a great time. We will be back when time permits.

All in all it was a great day.

This place is fun and usually has pretty good conditions. Service is O.K. although I don't understand why they don't like ski poles.

Ski Brule is almost always the first place to open and the last to close. The impressive snowmaking system is great for the obvious reason but manmade snow is icy. The overall customer service is pretty lousy. Every year they have a "ski for free costume day." Be warned, they consider hawaiian shirts and leis "normal" clothes and make you buy your ticket. They also used to have good deals on advanced lift tickets; thats all but gone too. I have no idea why someone would drive here from Chicago unless they are mentally retarded. If they want to drive that far they might as well drive another hour and go to Indianhead, Powderhorn or Whitecap. Those hills are not nearly as crowded and are twice the size. I would not consider the food cheap either, but no ski hill is. Overall this place is pretty crowded and seriously lacks advanced and expert terain. If you are even a remotely experienced skier / snowboarder, you will quickly tire of this place. Its a good place to go when everything else is still closed, but otherwise forget about it.

It was pretty good. The price was very good. The people weren't really nice but they were O.K. It was a little warm because we went late in the season but the terrain was still pretty good. I loved it!

Well worth the drive from Chicago! One of the great things about this little ski village are the individual chalets you can rent. Brule has great packages with lodging and lift tix. We stayed at Alpine Ranch for our second time at Brule. Great place, easy walk down the hill to the lifts! For the mom (me) I especially liked that the chalet had not only a new dishwasher, but also a washer and DRYER! The year before we stayed in another cabin which was nice and homey, but I was handwashing all the dishes and drying gloves on the edge of the fireplace.
Alpine Ranch also is a great place for families or groups. We have tweens and early teens. The house is close enough for them to be on their own, walking to the lifts, or catching the horse-drawn carriage that meanders through the streets. The house also has a rec room complete with pool and ping/pong table, and hot tub. Plus there are TV's and DVD players everywhere to keep everyone entertained, since we did have one rainy day.
The staff at Brule are great, friendly and willing to make anything right.
Now for the slopes! Something for everyone of all skill levels. The kids are snowboarders and love the terrain park. According to them, it's bigger than any of the others in the Wisconsin/midwest that we've been to. We'll be back next year!
