Shanty Creek Resort has the most friendly and caring staff of any resort I have been to. There are always a couple people anywhere you go that can shed a dark view but overall Shanty is the place to go in the Midwest for ski or golf!!! Love those golf courses and what a great staff to deal with on top of such incredible courses! The Legend Golf course will forever be my favorite and it has come a long way over the last 3 years! Amazing course! For ski, you just can't beat the outdoor pool/hot tub at the base of Schuss and Ivan's is a great place to grab a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and bailey's!!! Kudos to a wonderful staff and a great resort! My only suggestion would be for them to make the Summit into the best terrain park on earth to attract more young adults! Gotta do something with it!! :)
Stayed at the Lodge at Cedar River 3/07/08. Great ski in/ski out to the purple lift. Price of $120/night included a lift ticket. Hotel is new and very nice. Staff was excellent in the hotel and on the hill. Great ski conditions, lots of runs for all levels. Will definatelly return.
Great facility! Very Friendly employees and helpful. Looking forward to the Main Lodge being re-opened. Schuss hills are great. Not much of a wait for the lifts. Excellent family facility. Food is great but a bit pricey. Ski lift packages are reasonable. Will be back soon.

The resort is lovely - however - let's talk about our experience. We rented a condo - the original confirmation was for $175.00 per night. When we checked in the price was $225.00 per night. After much discussion, the price per night was reduced to $200.00 per night. When we got to the Condo - we had no heat. We thought it was a little cold, we turned up the thermostats and went to dinner; returning to a balmy 58 degrees. There was only one extra blanket and the firewood was so wet it was dripping water, so we were very uncomfortable. Had we known it was going to be like camping, we would have come a little bit more prepared. Most of the shuttle drivers and the staff answering the phone were very rude and not helpful. There were occasions, that we had to call 3 times to get an answer to a question. The staff at the rental place for the cross country skiing were the only friendly, helpful people that we encountered. When we went to Ivans, we were never able to sit near the window, even though all the seats were empty, I guess we just didn't fit into your resort. Beautiful place, poor management.

Our stay at Shanty Creek was very worth while. We stayed for 3 nights on the ski-free package and paid only alittle over $300! The lodging was affordable, and the ski hills were excellent. They have a lot of different activities going on so there is always something to do. The staff is very friendly, and they act like they actually care about your stay at their resort! We are deffinatly going to return next ski season, or maybe again before the end of this one! I highly recommend it!

Shanty Creek has been the best family resort I've been to in a long time. The hills were easy enough for me and my children. And they have alot of other family oriented activites as well. I greatly recommend that you give you shanty creek a try!

The terrain park this year is about the same as its always been, but the new 1/2 pipe is sick. It like they are trying to make the parks better.

Shanty Creek was an awesome place to stay. My husband loved the terrain park with the half pipe. And I enjoyed all of the easier runs since I haven't skied in 3 years. There were also many fun family activities like dog sled rides, tubbing, sleding, sleigh rides, and our daughter loved the daycare facility! Cedar River was a nice place to stay with the ski in/out condos. We will deffinatly be returning next season!

Looking forward to this season!!! Summit will not be opening this year which will put a greater snowmaking focus on Schuss Mtn. A new pipe dragon has been purchased and a new tubing area has been lit on the Cedar River Golf Club Practice range (an absolutely perfect piece of terrian with great natural contures for tubing) The Snowsports center is undergoing a redesign to revive it until the new Schuss Village facilities are constructed. Summit Lodge is being renamed the Lakeview Hotel & Conference Center and totally redisegned ($10 million). Shanty Creek Resorts are truly "Now More Than Ever"

If you want flat-go to Shanty. But Schuss--after replacing literally ALL lifts with Quads a few years back is really a great place. Front hills are nice and steep, back hills are peaceful through the woods. Kingdom Come and Blue Skidoo are awesome-nice challenge.
the revamped ownership which resulted in 5 new Quads in one year (I do believe) has GREATLY helped this area out! all around nice place!! Hit it if you are heading north to Boyne for a great "Taste" of what is to come! (or on way home, if you are heading South from Boyne to lower michigan), you will not regret it!!!
