Indianhead is the best ski resort in the midwest. It has a well variety of runs. The terain park is incredible. The people here are very nice as well. It is a very fun place to go.

Indianhead is our preferred resort in the U.P. There is nothing better than to make first tracks without having to have ridden a lift first. The region is known for its abundant snowfall and the hill is generally in good condition. We ski on weekdays and rarely encounter lift lines.

We just came back from our ski trip to Indianhead (4-days this time). Couple thougths I would like to share with other skiers planning to go there:
Positive:
- nice hill with pretty long and wide trails (for Midwest standards)
- hardly any crowds on weekends, almost nobody there on weekdays, so almost no waiting lines
- from time to time they have good deals on lodging and lift tickets
Negative:
- very old and very slow lifts. Couple years ago they advertise high speed lift, but it is still not there.
- very short ski hours 9am - 4pm. They could easily extend ski hours to 8am - 5pm without need to installing any lights (which by the way are already there), but I guess they do not care.
- recently they start sending e-mails advertising extended hours for remaing of the season. They are suppose to be open till 5pm on Saturdays, but last Saturday we get kick out of the hill at 4pm anyway.
- not much grooming done on weekdays. Out of 5 black diamonds trails we skied there on this trip there was 1.5 trails groomed on Monday and 2 trails groomed on Tuesday.
Anyway, I like the hill at Indianhead, we went there every year for past 10 years or so (this was our third trip there this season), but I think this was our last trip there.

I have had the opportunity to ski at Indianhead many times throughut my life and going back almost fifty years, the place doesn't change...the lodge is pretty much the same, the lifts are the same and the friendly personnel are still very friendly. Some years have been great and others so so because of the weather. Indianhead is dependable...it has the highest elevation in the Midwest..next to Lutz..and it is never croweded. I am sure they would like to have the volume of guests they had in the "old" days when busses filled the parking lot and skiers were everywhere...but competition being what it is, people now stop at Cascade and Granite Peak rather than driving further to reach the UP...they might have to rethink the UP...they have the terrain and the snow..maybe they do need waterparks and upgrades to the facilities..Indianhead is still the greatest place to ski in the midwest!

Incredible amount of snow! Most snow I've seen anywhere and the mountain is huge for the midwest. Lifties are nice, food is o.k. Doesn't have a high speed lift but if you're there to ski, you'll love it

Was at Indianhead last year and had great weather, with lots of snow. But was always looking for some more advanced, glade/tree skiing. Are there any hidden runs, that I should know about?

Skied on 3-17, St. Patricks day, no snakes apparent anywhere as they were driven off hundreds of years ago by the days namesake. Firm fast conditions made for high speed gs turns, the edges of the runs held the seasons remaining soft snow. Sunshine and light breeze keeps skiers cool and warm at the same time. 1/2 pipe specialists and free skiers along with ecellent racing action provides entertainment on the long lift rides. Brat worst turns out to be Brat best at bottom of hill. Bikini race and Bikini fashion show stirs up members of my party to a fever pitch. A member of our party states that it must a lot of guts to climb the ski jump accross the valley, I stated that I was afraid of it from 15 miles away. Staff and locals treat us like we are famous. I have always been told that hurley was a......

Indianhead has wonderful trails. However their snow condition report is misleading. We have skiied Indianhead 7 times this past winter (2007 season) and everytime have checked their website condition report, and everytime they have said they are "100 percent open."
However all seven times, although the "trails" were open, the lifts to get to all the trails were not open so you could not ski them. Their quad lift never was open thus 6 runs were never accessible to us.
Powderhorn Mountain and Whitecap Mountain always have lifts available so you can ski the entire mountain - midweek or weekends. I would appreciate it if Indianhead was more honest on their website so a skier could make a decision if they want to spend the money to ski only 3/4 of their mountain.

Snow was greeat. We skied until 4:30 and enjoyed a beer afterwards. Good people but alittle too flat on the top. How about some glade skiing? We were there 5 years ago and the only thing different is that it is cleaner.

The skiing was great for springtime. The snow was in fantastic shape and the hill well groomed. The Bikini Race was also very well done although our group watched very little (as mentioned, the skiing was great). We had an overall super day on the slopes. We were also very glad to see you were staying open till 5 pm after Daylight Savings Time started. This was severly hampered when the triple and quad lifts were closed at 3:45 and everyone who was at the bottome of the hill had to stand in what can only be called the longest lift lines I have seen in 35yrs of skiing. Unfortunately, my last ski experience till next year was waiting to get to the top of the hill. Even though we have heard rumblings of a high speed lift at Indianhead for the last several years, this may have been the best reason to get one installed. Even without a high speed, none of us can understand why only the doubles were working for the last hour. Hope to see you again next year.
