Great place to live & ski in Chgoland!

Come on what did you expect, but you will find me out there with a giant grin on my face loving the fact that I can SKI in LISLE, ILLINOIS!

Residents ski free. Full service rental & ski school. Varying terrain park with jumps, boxes and rails. Fun interesting courteous staff. Awesome upper body workout from rope tow. 1/2 price food & drinks at the Lodge on Sundays. All within 30 min of downtown.

Driving through the larger Four Lakes Village area, with its rustic looking condominium buildings perched over winding wooded lanes, might actually remind you of some trendy Colorado ski village. However this is where the similiarity ends.
The Four Lakes Ski Area is a small hill suitable for learners or those brushing up on their skills. However its shallow vertical, and short runs quickly leave you at the bottom reaching for one of its six tow ropes for the slow drag back up the hill. This gets monotonous after a while especially for more experienced skiers and snowboarders, but the short runs are an advantage for beginners.
There is a terrain area that probably will not challenge serious aerial artists, but can provide a some excitement.
What the ski area lacks in absolute thrills it does partially make up for in accessibility, especially for residents of the Chicago Metro area. A half hour or so drive can put you on the slopes. The prices are fairly reasonable, especially when you consider the gas you are saving.
Even though it is a relatively small place, it has virtually all the elements you expect to find in any ski area: rental shop, ski and snowboard lessons, dining area and even a ski pub. It can get crowded on the weekend, but most of the time it is usually manageable. A good place to learn the sport, or to start off your season.
