I rode up the hill with a 78 year old gentelman 10 years ago that helped start the ski hill. He was a mountianeer from WWII and it sounds like he is still skiing and intertaining skiiers. I plan on visiting your resort sometime over the holidays and hope to start my gandson skiing in a couple of years.

This is a ski resort run by skiers with one purpose in mind, giving the customer a great skiing experience. The addition of a third chair lift later this year is going to open up a lot more terrain. This is a good family area, reasonably priced and without any smoke and mirror advertising like some other resorts in the area are dreaming up. And they get more snow that anyone within the inland empire area.
This is my 6th season at Lookout and I honestly think the people and the general vibe at this hill are one of the primary reason I drive past two other ski areas on my way up. The area was granted by the USFS with the understanding that they gotta always have a free ski school, how wicked cool is that! The idea that their instructors have turned out trillions of new shred heads still amazes me. There's also a really cool "local" vibe that's not exclusive or any kinda dumb crappola. I regularly ride the chair and share a lift with a 88 y/o local that started on the hill in the 30's when they had to walk up and they would only get in 3-4 runs in a day.
Try this place!!! I doubt you'll regret it, there's always Natalie at the bar if'n it's rainin' or something, try the brats!!!
my experience at lookout is awesome I was hired for this2007-2008 skiingyear I am veryexcited to work with people that care and know how to treat people and theyare very courtious to all the people keep up with the awsome jobs you are doing.

Lookout is a small but very well managed resort. Everything at Lookout runs like clockwork (unlike the constant problems of wind, broken lifts, and poor customer service down the street at competitor Silver Mountain (aka "Brokelift Mountain"). Unlike nearby Silver Mountain, Lookout is a great value... uncrowded skiing, the best snow in North Idaho, and challenging new terrain to be added with the new North Star lift coming summer 2007. The new runs at Lookout will overcome their only previous weakness - having some steep terrain. The new north side runs (including Marmot, Big Dipper, etc.) are awesome... we know because we poached them all year long even though it meant hitchhiking on I-90 back to the resort ("hillbilly cat skiing"). The free ski school, good food, and excellent customer service make Lookout one of the gem of the Gem State. This is the kind of place where you may likely rub elbows with one of the owners making sure you are having a great day.

Lookout Pass consistently has the best snow in the region. You'd really have to look for some more challenging terrain, but the excellent snow conditions make up for it 100%. Besides, you can't beat their prices!
chep, good snow, not loaded up with wall to wall skier's

LookOut Pass has the BEST powder in the NW. Sure, you may not have the mega steep terrain that you may find at the huge resorts in CO, UT, but with all their fresh virgin powder coupled with their advanced terrain---you just can't beat it! The best Skiing in Eastern Washington---We live within 2 hours of 6 resorts, and LookOut is consistently excellent. Plus, it has a hometown feel, no glitz, beautiful scenary and the price is right!!
there was lots of snow this last friday. 18" of fresh powder! the only problem was that there wasn't enough steep terain. you would have to search for it and even when you did find it, it wasn't worth talking about. low angle terain every lift. oh well it was a great first day anyway. good for families and beginer powder riders.
