I'm from Florida and have been comming out to Sunlight for 12 years. I think its the best kept secret in the state of Colorado. Small crowds, great trail skiing, aways fresh power in the trees, ski in-ski out of your room, friendly staff, great night life, what else do you want? Glenwood Springs is a beautiful town with a very active social schedule. You just can't beat it!!!!

i have been going to sunlight for 20 years. it is the best place to ski and the crowds are very minimal.. i am taking my two little girls for the first time and can't wait to see them on the mountain. i did hear some news that a florida company bought sunlight and is planning on turning it into a "mini-vail" i hope that it keeps the small town image...
I have to admit I am a real novice and have nothing to compare Sunlight to. My son has been in the kids ski school for the second year. He loved it. I took snowboard lessons this season. The people who work here are genuine and fantastic. It is locals and low-key. No fancy restaurants, expensive shopping or crowded traffic/condos. It is 10 miles up on top of a mountain. More like drive-in, drive-out. No one is trying to show off their expensive ski outfit. Again, the people who work there are out to please. I hate to tell others about this place as I would like to keep it a secret for myself.

I have been going to Sunlight and staying at the ski in/out Brettleberg for over 25 years. Some say try other places, but why? The mountain is never crowded, and all the runs come down to the same open area, which makes it perfect for skiing with kids. Plenty of different terrain for all skiing levels. And if you can stay at Brettleberg and not have to make the mountain trip everyday, it is even better.

I went to Sunlight about back in '97 for the first time and really enjoyed the laid back vibe and no crowds. Finally made it back in Jan of '06. Family really enjoyed the mountain and the town of Glenwood Springs. Have already made reservations for this season right after Christmas. If you want to take the family somewhere nice and relaxing with no crowds this is the place.

Sunlight is a gem! You find unbroken powder in the trees, and wonderful groomed trails for beginner and intermediate skills. Often, if you stop on a trail, you can hear the chickadees chattering, and simply silence. The staff is friendly, and the crowds are somewhere else... probably Aspen or Snowmass! This is unbeatable skiing for the true enthusiast. And if you tire of downhill, there are miles of cross-country trails as well. Combine that with the hot springs in Glenwood, a steak at Juicy Lucy's, and you have a perfect day!

We loved this ski area! Our family has been skiing in Colorado for years and this was our best experience yet. The terrain was diverse enough that everyone was happy (they have a section of impressive double blacks!) and the mountain wasn't so big that you worried about losing anyone. Also, it had a very personable, local-feeling vibe. This is definitely where we'll be going next year.
