Snowmass was overall a great resort, but it was very crowded. Had some great runs.

Sorry this is for Larry a few posts down. Apres Ski means 'After Ski'.. Just a fancy (French) word that means After Ski.. Like bars, clubs, hangouts, etc! I'll be in Ajax/Snowmass Feb 2nd, so look out for my "Snowboarder" point of view!

I went there last year for a week with my family me and my mom are really good skiers and my dad is an expert skier who can ski anything except for cliffs if there's powder and my little brother who's good but still ways to go. Usually i don't like ski school and i don't have to go cause i can ski with my parents but here i tried it one day and i loved it we skied narrow chutes, powder, glades, backcountry, and groomers it really helped my skiing and now i ski double blacks comfortably and my little brother can now ski blues well and he's just a more confident skier and me and my dad were going to ski highland bowl at aspen highlands but we were having so much fun we just couldn't leave. I loved the trip

well i have been going here for years now and i must say- its the best mountain ive ever skiied. it has so many trails to ride and all the lifts are fast. the instructors are curteous and actulaay teach you(AKA: folg). Teh food ont eh mountain is great and typically there is always snow. the best part is the wide variety of double blacks. there are usually like one or 2 at other resorts but not here.its a great family vacation and a great learners or expert mountain. there isnt anything here that will not satisfy you. the best restaurant is butch's- best seafood around. But its what goes on underground is what gets you. The direstor of ski is the nastiest guy there but nobody would knowit. a few years ago an instructor was REPORTED speeding in a slow zone. The director did not look into it but just went into accusing that the instructor was speeding and fired him. Anyone who knowws the guy knows what i mean. everything is great there but poor central management is the problem. lucky for them they hire great staff

Ok so I just finished my 1st Colorado ski trip. I'm a hard core cyclist and have been to Colorado many times climbing the mts. on my road bike but never been to Colorado before in winter. We skied 4 days over Christmas 2 days at Copper and 2 days AT Snowmass. The snow conditions were much nicer at Snowmass packed powder versus icy conditions at Copper. Here is where Snowmass excels though and that is their pricing system. Youth stops at age 13 or 14 at Copper. At Snowmass it stops at age 17 or age 24 with kids in college if a college ID is presented. I have 2 college sons so that helped me and was sorry I didn't knew this before the trip as one didn't bring any of his college ID with him. I have no complaints about this resort and would go ski there again in a heartbeat...............LarryB Newburg Pa.

BTW I don't know what Apres Ski is

Well, how do I put this into words? My experience at Snowmass was absolutely (w/out a dought) the best snowboarding (snowsurfing) that I have ever had. I went up there on Christmas Day and what a day it was, they had recieved 8"-10" in the last 48hrs., and on Christmas Eve they had recieved another 8"-10" in the last 24hrs. So on Christmas Day the conditions were breath taking and the snow kept on coming, it snowed all day long, getting another 6"-8" through out the day, untouched lines all day, and the trees are what I love to ride/surf, and they were EPIC. Snowmass is NOW my FAVORITE ski resort in Colorado, (hands down). We were still getting fresh lines at 4:00pm. the place never seemed to ever get tracked out, and in the trees we were able to find fresh powder stashes in every batch of tress that we darted into. ABSOLUTELY EPIC, best day in 11yrs. of snowboarding/snowsurfing, THANK YOU, the best Christmas gift that I have ever given myself, (what a great experience).

I was skiing in Snownmass today Dec 8, 2007 this was the best day I have had here in 8 years, it was knee deep yesterday, it was knee deep today with with snow dumping all day. There was fresh tracks every where you went and nothing but great turns. The ski patrol was open up new runs throughout the day making it an experiance of a life time. If you can get here get here this is it, something each skier deams of. This is the best there is. Don't wait its here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About 15 years ago my husband and I began taking our kids (then 6 and 7) to different resorts in the US for skiing over school spring break. We found Snowmass (and the Top of the Village condos) during our fourth year or so and have been back at least once a year ever since. Wonderful skiing/snowboarding for beginners and double black diamond experts alike. Wonderful amenities. Excellent ski school. It is quiet for those who prefer quiet but easy to get to the party scene for my 21 and 22 year old kids who want to party at night. It is a magical place.

We went during the summer and it was phoemenal! We stayed at The Silvertree and everyone loved it. We rode up the ski lift and saw the mountains and we also took horses up the mountain as well. (My daughters favorite part)At the hotel there was a little ski village that my wife loved to shop in and they were extremly friendly to our Golden Adam. When we left for an activity we could let him out the door and there was a little spot(that he could not escape from)that he could get water from a little stream and it was amazing!! Hope you go and have fun!

THINK SNOW! It's getting a little thin. Spent an entire week skiing with blue skies, 45-50 degrees every day. Snow was soft but great fun to ski on. Not the powder we were looking for but an interesting experience. Not sloppy or wet - just right.

For access to the slopes I would recommend "The Crestwood." However, be aware of ongoing construction - not all units have been renovated yet. Their customer service is exceptional!

"Tasters" for pizza & pasta was a crowd pleaser. "Village Steakhouse" (be sure to make reservations) for a nice salad and soup bar. Their steak and seafood was good but overdone - overall one of our better dining experiences as far as service. "Mountain Dragon" for Chinese - family style - large portions and great for leftovers the next day for lunch. Plus, they have free appetizers at their Apres Ski. "Il Poggio" is not your typical Italian restaurant and may disappoint those who are expecting spaghetti and meatballs. It has a great creative menu. Food was very tasty, kitchen slow. The "Village Market" was great for picking up groceries we didn't get on the way in at Glenwood Springs "Safeway." Their rotisserie chicken was tasty and great for a quick meal. If you are into Margarita's, try the Margarita Grill Happy Hour - food was a bit pricey but tasty - but who care's after two for one Margarita's!

Only one warning: if you are flying out of Eagle/Vail on a "Saturday" around 11-12 PM on "American," be sure to give yourself more than 2 hours to get through check in and security. Consider curbside checkin at $2.00 a bag. We went inside and it took over an hour in line just to get our baggage checked in, then waited in another line for 20 minutes to drop the bags off for a security check, then at least another 20 minutes to go through the security checkpoint. We were amazed our bags made it home. Be aware - watching them select certain luggage, and go through it, was quite entertaining as we were standing in line. Pack accordingly :-)
