My 13 yr old son and I really enjoyed BC. Any resort that serves free hot chocolate in the morning at the top of the lift, understands customer service. They also have free chocolate chip cookies near the end of the day at the base.
I liked the terrain particulary at the top of the mountain. More forgiving for me, but also fun for my son, although he was more willing to take challenging runs. Hey, I'd 59 yrs old, so I need a calmer experience! We had 3 to 4 inches of powder on 2 days, so that was a pleasant experience high up on the slopes. We stayed on the upper slopes most of the days.
The main lodge is nice as are the mountain lodges. Clean, fairly new (as opposed to Vail's dated lodges). Hey, I was impressed that they had scented candles in the men's room, nice touch. Made you feel human. You know how bad that place can be.
Overall, not as sunny as I had hoped considering the advertising is 300+ days of sunshine. My wife did say it was sunny where she was (she doesn't ski, so stayed in town much of the time). Guess we had 3 of 6 days of reasonable sun on the mountain. (our 1 day at Vail on the back bowls was totally cloudy, so harder to have a good ski day with such flat light)
My son enjoyed riding behind the grooming machine which did a great job of corderoy (sic). Not going to look up how to spell it correctly...
One ski lift was particularly windy. Must be a natural wind tunnel. Too lazy to look up which lift, likely don't remember since it is now late April as I write this.
We were there in the 3rd week of January 2008. We had a great time since the slopes were not very crowded..we purposely went when there was no particular school vacations. Only large group we saw was for some racing events during that time...how do kids get off and travel from California to Colorado to ski in races? Guess I missed out in my youth!
We also skied a day in Vail, but we liked BC much better. Vail is a bit dated, althought the night life in Vail is better than BC. There ski school area was a bit worn. BC's was nice, fresh, friendly. Staff at the ski school was very helpful, particularly when you walked in in the morning at a newbie,,they showed you what to do and actually looked like they were having fun as well.
Lots of ski school instructors from distant lands. Fun to talk to them about how they ended up in the Colorado resorts..Again something I missed out on, growing up....
The selfish part of me wants to keep you away from this mountain, so it will be less crowded for us :>) But I would recommend it

Nice mountain, wonderful snow (early April), and lots of friendly people. HOWEVER, the people who run Vail Management CANNOT be trusted. I booked a three bedroom condo in Avon which was walking distance to the lifts. What the thoughtful sales people neglected to mention is that they shut down the lifts well before the end of the season. Instead of being a short walk, it is now a 15 minute (minimum)bus ride--with transfers to the lifts. I don't know what the reason for this is, but we are really mad!
If you ever deal with Vail Management make sure that you have a COMPLETE understanding of what you're renting. Did I mention that the condo I'm staying in was supposed to have a hot tub .... but I haven't found it.

was at beaver creek from january 2nd to the 11th. best conditions ever we got about 3 ft of snow from the 3rd to the 5th and another foot and half a couple of days later. 6 of the nine days were powder days. if you like skiing in powder you need to go vail or west. if you dont like powder you should go east of vail such as breckenridge and keystone and winter park. stayed in avon which was alright because of that new gondola they put in which takes you up to bachelors gulch which you then ski over to beaver creek.

very family friendly, great runs. The talons are awesome. great resort for everyone.
$90 lift ticket? That's really about all you need to know. I've skied all the CO resorts and BC's no better than most of them. I'd ski any of the major resorts along I-70, and even A-Basin before I'd go back to BC. They're trying to keep out the riff-raff with their prices I guess or become the next Aspen or Deer Valley, UT.(Neither of which gouge you like BC for a ticket) If you're looking to spend as much as possible for your ski trip it's perfect.

Beaver Creek Resort Is an outstanding resort that offers many terrains. There are slopes from Red Buffalo ( a kids favorite) or the golden Eagle. The Golden Eagle is a downhill course that they water to make it icy. My favorite run is the Centennial trail.

I just got back from my first trip to the Colorado rockies, and Beaver Creek was great! It's expensive, but most of the time, you get what you pay for. It will cost you a lot, but you'll get a lot.
We stayed in the town of Avon below the mountain, which is a little more affordable than staying in the village. There is great transportation from the town to the mountain, either by shuttle bus or by the gondola. Both village and the town have some good restaurants. The village itself is beautiful, and the resort staff was very helpful and enthusiastic.
But most importantly, the skiing is great! There is a wide range of terrain for people of all levels, including a large section of green runs at the top of the mountain. There are also several glade areas, and lots of bump runs. The thing I was most impressed with was the length of some of these runs. They keep going and going, and that doesn't mean they have long flat sections - the actual slope is very long on a lot of their trails. On top of that, the different mountains are very well connected and the lift lines were generally small except for one or two spots on the final day.
Overall, Beaver Creek is a great experience and I would highly recommend it!

The new gondola from Avon to the lower Beaver Creek express lift is great. The gondola is free so you can ride it to purchase your lift passes without messing with over crowded resort busses. Walking to the gondola from most of the hotels in downtown Avon is very easy even in ski boots, but If you don't want to walk there is a very efficient free bus service that runs busses to the gondola about every five minuets from almost every where in the town. The Larkspur bowl,Birds of Prey and Grouse Mountain lifts offer amazing terrain (all in one area) that can amuse you all day. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

We enjoyed the village, food, and people at BC. However, we were a bit disappointed the lift at our ski-in ski-out lodge was not open due to lack of snow. BC is a great family friendly village. The 36 inches of new snow during our stay made for great skiing.
Holy crap the "birds of prey" runs are incredible! They're so long and uncrowded. Dress in layers if you're going to ski those runs because you'll be sweating your a** off by the time you make it down. You won't need a trail map either, just follow the runs with "birds" in their name. Drink plenty of water or you'll be cramping up on the way home. If you can ski those runs for eight hours straight without a break, enroll in a triathelon next summer. Don't forget to say "Hi!" to the "Mary Jane Crew" Mike, Joe, Greg and Steve(most certainly the best skiers around)while your there. You'll know who the are, there the guys who don't stop.
