Loveland is the place to be. I have skied over 20 different resorts in Colorado and Wyoming in the last few years, and each has its qualities, but Loveland is HOME. I try to get to Loveland at least 10 or 12 times a year. If you are only going to get out a few times though, you can not beat the 4 pack lift tickets that go on sale in early fall. That is how I found Loveland, and fell in love. They have terrain for all classes of skier, and I like that they offer a completely different area for the beginners. Like everyone else said, lift lines are almost nonexistent. The tree skiing is awesome, the open runs are always a blast, the pow on the north side can be great, and I love everything off lift 9. There is no other resorts that I know of, where you can get off the lift and have such a spectacular 360 degree view. You also get all kinds of conditions here. People bitch about the wind but I have skied here plenty of times when there was no wind. I have been here too when you couldn't see your ski tips because of ground blizzards. That just makes it more challenging.
One of my best days on the slopes was here in white out conditions. At times in the open you could only see 3 to 5 feet in front of you. That made knowing the slopes really important, but such a unique experience. My only complaint is that they could set up the jumps in the terrain park a little more friendly to the style of skier and riders that use it. The jumps are so large that few people have the balls to hit them, and the people who have the guts, are hitting the BIG terian parks at other resorts already.

For all of those people that said they preferred other mountains, good for you. We don't want people like you around anyway.

As long as I can put my boots into my bindings, Loveland will be my favorite place to ski.

Loveland is a good resort for anyone who actually wants to SKI. There are no high class restaurants and no fancy dining. If you are looking for that then you should probably fork out a few hundred dollars at Vail instead. I've never waited for more than 10 minutes to get on a chair after 12 years. Although the terrain park is moderate at best, the steeps, on the other hand, are amazing. I find that most of the people who dislike them, hate them only because they are too hard for them. When I go to places like Keystone, it's funny to see the difference in the definition of "Extreme" runs. Skiing at loveland really gives you an advantage in skiing gnarley terrain. Finally, on a pow day, the bowls on either side of 9 are amazing. The true definition of steep and deep, especially since this season has been pretty amazing; and yes, it does get windy at 12,700 feet. Someone inform the press.

It's for those reasons and many more that loveland is by far my favorite resort, or day area more correctly, to ski at; especially on the deeper days. If your looking for the best park, then of course places like Breck, Keystone, Aspen etc. are going to be your best bet.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Comparing it to Copper Mountain this place wins hands down. The people who work here are great. They were so friendly, to the ticket lady to the ski instructor to the store cashier everyone seemed to love this place and I totally understand why. Most of the trails are not groomed. The trails were all different from each other. They had their own feel. The lifts were not high speed but they gave you time to relax. The hills were challenging. My favorite one was the Tempest and Bennet's Bowl. All the trails including the trails in the valley were great. The ski school was excellent. My instructor was named Art and he did an excellent job improving my skiing. After my lesson I could ski with a lot more confidence and could see a vast improvement in my skiing ability. Never have had a lesson were I learned so much. I went to copper mountain the next day and was very disappointed in that place. I wish I spent my whole vacation at Loveland. Without a doubt I will be back.

I was in Denver for business and was fortunate enough to book a late enough flight back to DC that I could get a good half day or so of skiing in Loveland before flying back. I was not disappointed! Mid-week was nice with plenty of new snow on the slopes and still falling from the sky. Those folks in Denver sure have it nice. It was quick to get a lift ticket and go through ski rentals after grabbing breakfast at the hotel in Lakewood. I was on Lift 1 in no time at all. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a short drive with some available time to ski before flying home. This is the only place I know where you can get a fresh deli sandwich made to your liking!!

loveland is terrible, slow lifts, not enough groomed runs, no high class dining, no where to stay slope side, the list goes on. I cannot conceive a reason when anyone would want to come to this cold, windy, snow-deprived, stone age resort.

Eight of us went to Loveland January 7th & 8th. Loveland is a skiiers mountain. Who needs all the fluff from the overpriced resorts. I would rather ski Loveland anyday. No lift lines, plenty of fresh powder and challenges for every type of skiier are there. The pre-season 4-pak is the best value in Colorado outside a season pass. You definately get your moneys worth at Loveland.

Loveland is sweet spot, mostly everyone ther is helpfull.......and its always fun to watch the group lessons out there lol, the main drawback about loveland is that its so damn cold!!!!!!! last time there with the wind chill it was -24 F....... and if you brave up to lift 8 it only gets colder......but what do you expect for a spot on the continental divide, on the days when its so damn cold loveland is one of the top MTN's to ride at

Loveland is definitly one of the best mountains in Colorado. I say Mountain, not resort. If you want nine hotels, six bars, twenty minute lift lines for detachable quads, deep driving. But, if you want a simple mountain that has a ton of snow then stop. Loveland is without a doubt one of the stepest and deepest mountains around. It can get windy and cold, but if its windy on chair 9 then that wind is filling something in with the snow that is blowing off of copper. The people and lifties and patrol are extremly nice, and very quick to get to you if you are hurt, the lodge is small, but warm and the food is awsome and cheap. The natural divisions between the steeps and the bunnyhills provide saftey for beginers, and no matter how well you ski you will have a good day.
ref: Jackson, Vail, Copper, Whistler, Zermatt, Heli, Taos...the list goes on.
The picture is from last weekend.

If your an avid boarder, this place is for you. Not much steeps except at the seven sisters runs when it's open. Pretty good black skiing on the other side of I-70 though. It's usually always windy a Loveland. They get a lot of snow too. Stay away from the valley area unless you are a beginner or you have small ones with you. It's a mom and pop operation and the staff are really friendly and the food is cheaper than most. They also have an excellent gift shop. Spring skiing can be a bit tricky on clear days, since the resort faces east and the sun turns the snow into applesauce in minutes. If your coming from Denver, pay attention to the highway signs. If it says Loveland pass is closed change your plans and go to Loveland instead. You won't regret it and you'll be home in time to watch the second half.
