Great view at the top! gets busy and crazy here!!! But there are areas that have no lines and great snow and runs there, explore the entire mountain. Fun place really for the teenagers & snowboarders!

Sierra was the first place I learned to ski. The instructors were wonderful. I have skied many places but Sierra has been the friendliest and now my five year old son is learning to ski/snowboard.

My first visit, when it was Sierra Ski Ranch, was back in 1981. I was a begginer and terrified until I made my first run down Sugar & Spice. An easy run with fantastic views of Lake Tahoe! I loved it! Very few ski areas have beginner runs from the top of the mountain. Over time, we all advanced to the black runs. Now we can ski anything. My son grew up skiing here and although we've all moved away, we make it back twice a year and are never dissapointed.

Now living in TX & PA, we've tried other resorts, including Jackson Hole, Aspen, Whistler, Taos and Sun Valley. Taos is the only resort that compares to Sierra At Tahoe. I always reccomend Sierra At Thoe to friends, family and co-workers for Northern Ca skiing. They always return with rave reviews and have fallen in love with the area. We're going with a group of 40 friends & family in late Jan. We can't wait to get back there.

I really miss the convenience of the 3-4 hour drive from the Bay Area area. But..it's so worth the hassle of dealing with the airport, rental car and the drive. We fly into Sacramento, although Reno is closer, because we love the drive along the river. Just be sure you rent a 4X4 (unless the roads are clear and no storms are predicted) and add chains to the rental (4X4 is not always enough-they have check points where they'll install the chains for a fee and it's well worth the costs). If you don't have chains, you have to buy them at the check points and you'll pay 5-10 times the costs to rent them with the vehicle! You will not be allowed to continue without chains.

This is a family resort with plenty of areas to get away from the kids and packed beginner runs. There's something for everybody. Just go for it. You'll never want to go anywhere else in Northern, Ca!

Sierra at Tahoe has quickly become our favourite hill in the Tahoe area. Although it is basically served by two main lifts, there is a huge range of terrain, and something for every skiier irrespective of ability.

For those who like to cruise the blues, the runs in the West Bowl area are just perfect, and if Clipper or Horsetail have not been groomed, you can catch some powder or ski a few moguls here too. If you want to be more adventurous, the black runs off The Grandview Express will challenge the better skiier. We go on vacation late March/Early April and on powder days (of which there are plenty) or even on corn days, the steeps of Dynamite and the bumps of Castle or Preacher's Passion really hit the spot.

Obviously there is not the acreage of a Jackson Hole or a Lake Louise, and you can ski every run on the mountain in a day, but it's neat, fun and challenging in places. Access can be a problem on stormy days if you don't have a 4x4, although there are regular shuttle busses from South Lake Tahoe.

The Season Pass deal of $199.00 for Sunday - Friday is outstanding value, and we've also made great progress there thanks to the $99.00 limitless lessons package. In 2005 we had 5 lessons during our stay, and in four out of the 5 lessons there were no more than 5 in the group. Once my wife and I had an instructor to ourselves! They really pushed us on and the lessons were amongst the best we've ever had. By the end they had us skiing in the trees and we had a real blast. We'll be back in 2008 and we're excited already.

Last season I skied there and I had a great experience! The resort is great and the staff is excellent! I loved the terrain parks and the superpipe! They didn't have a lot of powder days last season, but I was lucky and the weekend I went there, they had a lot of new snow!

My fiance and I went to Sierra-At-Tahoe this past week and did the three day pack, which was $138 for three days of instruction, lift tickets (limited the first two days, but it doesnt matter because if you need the instruction, you won't survive on the rest of the mountain), and rentals. It was great overall, our instructors (Evan and JB) were kickass and patient. There are smaller groups in the late afternoon so you can capitalize on that and have your own mini private lesson. Also I believe you can take the group lessons as many times as you want in one day so you should take advantage of that. The view from the top of the mountain is beautiful, but the Sugar and Spice run will still be difficult (spills) for those that just finished just there three day lessons. IF you can come for 3 or 4 days you will be a pro in no time.. comes highly recomended.

Sierra at Tahoe is an excellent resort. I am a season pass holder and usually try to go on weekdays. Sierra is always crowded but the lift lines seem to move fast. On crowded days, even if you are on expert runs, there are always people cutting in front of you. The staff is extemely polite and tries to help you whenever possible. There is also really good food in the downstairs lodge.
If you are planning on coming up to Sierra, wait about three days after a storm because the snow is still good and the roads don't have chain control (The crowds are also much smaller). Sierra at Tahoe is a pretty good resort but is always extemely crowded. Next season I am getting a season pass to a place that is not as crowded. If you like big crowds, long lift lines, people cutting in front of you, and ice in some spots, then come to Sierra at Tahoe!

We rode Sierra on January 24th. Although snow is scarce thru-out Tahoe, this resort had several good groomed runs and a nice beginners terrain park. I suggest you bring your rock board if you're going soon ... they haven't had God made snow since the beginning of January and there are several thin spots. While we were there our favorite fast run was Horsetail - also groomers choice! We enjoyed our time at Sierra even though snow fall is the worst it has been in YEARS!

Having skied an average of twenty days per year at Sierra since 1989, yeah back when we had BYOB (bring your own beer) and the first Grand View hi-speed was new and real high.
I can tell you with my roots from the northern Idaho / Western Mt and AB Canada area
Sierra at Tahoe resort is the closest you'll find today with the full package in Tahoe.
Complete fun will be had by both the first timers to the back country tree jammin' sinlge or two planker. This is unfortunalty no longer a hidden mother lode of the some of the best tree riding, where you'd swear you're in depths of the back country, try lift to instant trees to lift ........that's asume! See you there and have fun!

Much of this resort's appeal relies on its meticulous grooming of modest fall-line faces free of traffic. When the wind howls atop nearby Echo Summit, Sierra's front side becomes a catcher's mitt for powdery snow. Riders can enjoy "The Gauntlet," a terrain park containing tabletops, gap jumps and more. The parks aren't restricted to just one area, they span the entire mountain. Five terrain parks and a 485-foot half pipe attract a sometimes rowdy young crowd, but there's plenty of snow and elbow room to go around at the 2000-acre resort, which averages 560 inches of snowfall annually.
