Love the new family lodge! Once again Dodge has come through with a family friendly resort with runs for all classes of skiers/boarders. Easy to get to, no crappy traffic, fun for all. An 8 of 10! No boredom here. We are not your pretentious skiing/boarder types. We just love a good day on the slopes with decent amenities at a reasonable price! We'll be back!

Well, I totally get that an expert skier will be extremely bored with Dodge. The runs are intermediate at best, although there are a couple of challenging runs. The worst problem they have is access to the good runs. The lack of direct chairs is so frustrating it drives me crazy. If you want a good bump run, you get about 5 minutes then you are on a flat groomed the rest and then a very long ride back up and at times 2 chairs to get to the good part!
I agree that the location is great (we own a cabin here and I Love this area) but truly they need to rethink how to get experts up the mountain without long chairs to no where. I have skied for years and everywhere in Ca. and most of Utah so I certainly know how a mountain should be accessed. This is not it.
That being said, if you ski on weekdays, you will at least get in lots of runs as there is never a crowd. WE only ski here because of our cabin. But TAHOE is nuts so what can you do?

I disagree with you people. Our kids have a wonderful time, the service is super and the new lodge for kids/families is terrific. I'm bringing my 3.5 year old grandson back up on Saturday. I can't think of a better ski area to teach my grandkids how to ski and enjoy snow.

What is good?
=============
Dodgeridge is geared towards beginners and intermediates, mostly children. Advanced skiers and groups with mixed skills that want choice of ski terrain usually visit Tahoe area ski resorts. So, one advantage dodgeridge has is that is that it is not too crowded.

If you are a parent you will enjoy being able to watch your kids as many of the runs are within your sight. Most of the staff are friendly and hardworking. You will have a great experience if you visit the place on non holidays. Another advantage Dodge Ridge has when the weather is iffy is that you are less likely to get stuck in snow and get caught off-gaurd without chains.

What is bad?
============
Dodgeridge doesn't receive as much snowfall as other regions. The snow gets slushy by the end of day on warm days. If you visit dodge ridge on holidays, hoping to avoid the crowds, you are almost certain to sware never to visit the place again. Larger resorts have systems in place to handle large crowds so you are still better off going elsewhere. Dodgeridge has no systems in place to handle crowds. Extremely poor management! They just add teenage help and ask them to handle the situation. On busy days, registration is a chaos with no one directing people to the right location, place running out of equipment, improper fitting, children getting lost you name it. Half the staff doesn't know what to do as the staff added that day to help with the crowds has no experience. They are trying to help but they don't know what to do. The standard answer we got when asked about it was: "we are so busy today, you are not the only one facing the same problem".

as an intermediate skiier, Dodge has been kinda-ok for us many times over several years. Arriving from the Bay area is convinient, and you can actually make it in 3 hrs each direction.
BUT, last week we took our 5 yr. son for their ski-school. While he had a relatively "ok"-time, this was a bad overall experience. The ski school for the younger children, especially the beginners, is no more than an expensive baby-sitter-service. The net-time on the snow is low, and time is wasted in going back and forth between the snow area and the snack / drink / lunch area; the kids get more tired from going back and forth than from skiing. if you want your young kid to learn how to ski, dodge is NOT the place for you.

For everyone who doesn't think Dodge is Glitzy enough Great. We spend Christmas every year skiing and staying at the Pinecrest Chalet. The staff at Dodge are friendly and the ski instructors are awesome. If you want Tahoe and everything it has to offer stick with it. In this world of constant fast pace it is great to go somewhere where you can really relax and not deal with a million people and cars.

Im actually surprised how positive the criticism for dodge ridge is from people who claim to be tahoe frequenters. More likely those who come up for the weekend, but as someone who grew up in tahoe i can honestly say dodge is a resort that is not up to par with how a "resort", i use that term lightly, should be. Dodge has one thing, location. That is the sole reason people even bother coming. The management really needs to get their priorities right to get better riders to come to their resort. One of the things that drives me absolutely nuts is their situation when it comes to lifts. They do not have a single express lift, and on a three day weekend for example lines will be up to a half hour long. For example, chair 7. However i do like their parks, unless youre in a hiking mood youre not going to get to ride much of it without enjoying some long lift rides. Express lifts to the top should be dodge's first priority but they decided to wait until 2012. Great idea.. Being 18, im not too familiar with dodges family riendly atmosphere so i cant have a say on that one. However, i have personally seen how up tight and at times anal the dodge employees can be. Basically if youre someone used to the better of resorts, you better be a patient person if you hope to enjoy dodge ridge.

Dodge Ridge is one of the nicest ski areas that we have visited. I like the family-friendly attitude the owners have frankly don't care if the resort lacks the glitz of Tahoe or some areas in CO. It's a beautiful spot that our family has enjoyed for more then 35 years. Conditions are excellent this season. I skied all morning. The snow was just fine and the lift lines fast.

The atmosphere here is awesome!! Everyone is nice and friendly. The ski shop is really awesome too! Very knowledgable and they treat everyone very well, they don't treat you based on your equipment.
It is true that conditions can be dissapointing but that doesn't keep me from having fun! The thing I really like is that on a powder day you have fresh lines the whole day!! The chairs are slow but you can still get in a whole bunch of runs in a day because there are never any lines! The parks really rock this year!!! Me and my buddies were first down stagecoach and it felt nice and smooth. I suggest this resort as a good all around ski resort wether you like groomers (very good grooming)or park.
