I am a long time Apex season pass holder and am a bit disgruntled with some of the reviews about the mountain. I will admit that the holiday season this year did not come without some technical difficulties. However, since the holiday season the lifts have been running flawlessly and the snow has been fantastic. Being from the Okanagan valley, I have my choice of ski resorts and have taken my family skiing to each of them. Every fall, my family and I have the same discussion of where we should buy our season passes. And every year, we come to the same conclusion – Apex is the best deal in the Okanagan. With basically no lift lines and by far the best variety of terrain in the Okanagan, dollar for dollar and run for run, Apex is the best choice.
In response to the review which talked about their 30 minute wait on the chair lift, yes it did happen, I was also on the lift at the time. I was annoyed at the time, but considering my family and I would have spent more time waiting in lift lines than skiing at most other ski resorts, the 30 minutes spent waiting for the lift to be repaired now seems trivial.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see Apex remain my family’s little secrete but I feel that a couple of the reviews on this forum are unfair and don’t do justice to the mountain. If you are looking for a mountain that is super family friendly, has an awesome variety of terrain, great snow and small to non-existent lift lines than Apex is a no brainer.
I had never skiied in my life until I visited Apex. I went with two experienced skiiers. I rented equipment and had a lesson with a mountain guide (who went out of his way to offer a lesson to just 2 skiiers) as the instructors were all busy. After an hour or two I graduated to the intermediate level and we went up the hill and skiied (and fell down too!) all day.The weather was perfect (March last year)and the lifts were not busy. The rental technicians were helpful and friendly as was the restaurant staff.

I moved here from Ontario last year. Apex has tough runs, and is definately an experts mountain. It has challenging steeps, chutes, and tree runs, and doesn't get tracked out quickly. I don't find the racing a big deal at all. However, it would be nice if the owners put some money into the hill, the triple lift is really slow, the half pipe takes forever for them to get open, and in 2007-2008, the hill is closing 2 weeks early.

We spent a few days over Christmas in the mountains at Apex. Our four day stay was excellent -- we managed to keep the kids entertained and that meant everyone was happy!! Of course there were some issues with the chairlift stopping but we’ve had that elsewhere as well. We skied for three of the days on the vast variety of terrain that Apex has. My husband and daughter did laps of the Quad Chair while my son and I cruised over at the Stocks Chair. A quick coffee and lunch at the coffee shop or cafeteria re-energized us for the afternoons. When the kids had energy left in the evenings (as they always do!) there were ways to direct it -- hitting the Tbar for some night skiing, tubing at the Tube Park, playing a bit of pickup hockey or skating around the loop trying to out lap each other.
The staff was always friendly and helpful, there was terrain for all the family members, and everything was so close in the village that we could send the kids off to the arcade with some change in hand and not be worried!! We enjoyed our stay at Apex and are looking to head there again next year, and bring some friends along this time too.

A poor holiday was spent here. Most of the time was waiting for the chair to run. Compared to the other hills you can visit Apex is expensive when you get two old poor chair-lifts. At a time when other ski hills have better and newer facilities Apex is stuck in the past. Compared to other resorts in BC Apex is now in the bottom of the gun-barrel. Golden, Fernie and Revelstoke have better snow and terrain.

Ya I was there too and spent more time dangling in the air with the chairlft broken than I did shredding. As a student from the coast I;ve only got so many $$ - and they won't be lining the pockets of the owners of this broken down old hill any more.

As a long time season pass holder I decided to forfeit that option in 2007-08 because of a few recent unhappy years at Apex. I did buy a day pass yesterday and on my way to the lift line people told me not to ski the "quad" as it had been breaking down frequently over the last couple of days with waits on the lift (in the wind) of over 30 minutes. Sure enough, on arrival in the lift line - the chairlift stopped. Customers were left with the option to ski down to the only other lift that would get them back to the parking lot (with waits of over 30 minutes in line) or hike back up the mountain. I climbed - and went to look for my my money back for a ticket that I did not use. "Not our policy" was the response! I now know why it will never be my policy to spend another nickel at this sorry state of a ski resort. They are not user friendly and my advice would be to ski elsewhere - who needs this?

apex is a sweet hil. it's steep and fast, plus it's almost never busy. the best part: the gunbarrell saloon - best ski bar in bc! you may not get lucky with the snow but keep trying, when you do get lucky you will not forget it. apex is not a begginer slope, i think that's why so many people don't like it. you must be a good skier to get the most out of the place. stay on hill, it's cheep and the hotel is good, great staff, overall an outstanding hill!!

ok i have been snowboarding at apex for 8 years, it has great, dry powder, but the season does not get good until half way through december (usually) i looked at some of the other reviewers complaining about how the mountain katers to the racers and not them, BOOO HOOO, i mean come on you have to wait 30 seconds for some racers to go by before you are allowed to pass threu the course, about there being to many ski patrol going up the lift, and making you wait, THERE IS NO LINE 80 percent of the time you wiat less than 30 seconds to get on the lift. stop crying.
