i learned how to ski in cypress this season and i think it's a great local mountain. the instructors are good, really helpful and friendly. it is big enough and has enough runs to challenge a beginner to intermediate skier, and at the same time it is small enough so it's not too intimidating for learners. my fiance is an expert skier and he had a blast in cypress during powder days with his fat skis. hard to beat if you live in vancouver as it is only 30 minutes away from downtown. if you go during off hours or during the weekday there are hardly any lift lines.

By far the best terrain on the North Shore. Good selection for all levels of skiers.

super packed on the weekends, and doesnt get as much snow as grouse. THe lift lines are rediculous. BUT if you stay off the green runs, you find lots of space to yourself. And at least all the lift attendants arent from down under.
This is a great mountain for families and beginners! The black runs are more like blue runs at some other mountains. Very crowded and busy, but all round a good mountain to learn on.
