I moved to Phoenix in July 2007 from Michigan and you have it great here. There are actual mountains with 2,000+ feet of vertical and snow in excess of 200 inches in a good winter. In Michigan we would be lucky if we received more than 100 inches a winter with lake-effect snow and we would drive 4 hours to get a 500 foot vertical ski area with 40 trails. The Midwest is home for over 40 million people who have to drive 10 hours to the Northeast or 25 hours to the Rockies. Having Snowbowl only a 2 hour drive from Phoenix, with a great winter this year, it is a nice ski resort. Upgrades are planned, but the owners are being logical that they need snowmaking before they invest in the resort. Snowmaking is used everywhere in the Midwest, and icy conditions are very typical there, and people pay $40 a day to ski the small hills in Michigan! When I moved here I thought I would have to drive 10+ hours to Colorado to go skiing, but I feel lucky I can drive 2 hours to Snowbowl. I went 3 times this past year, and it was awesome. Great variety of runs, Aggasiz lift really needs to be upgraded to a high speed quad so it does not close as often due to high winds, but that will be fixed once they are allowed to add snowmaking. Overall, Snowbowl is a good ski area and has the potential to be a huge hit with the Valley's skiers.

truly horrible. go there if you like long lines, slow lifts, and one of the nastiest parks you'll ever see. expensive, too (for what you get). worse than mount lemon. the reviewer below who talks about finishing runs within 5 minutes is spot on. you wait in extra-long lines, only to breeze down the mountain within a quarter of the time it takes waiting to get up the mountain, only to do it all over again. this place desperately needs longer runs and/or lifts that are technologically competent and don't look and perform like they are out of a third world country. this also goes for Snowbowl's sorry excuse for a "parking lot" (which pretty much consists of a muddy dirt lot). whoever runs the place should be both embarrassed and/or fired, then promptly commit suicide. just go the extra six hours to telluride. it's well worth it compared to this piss poor, mickey mouse mountain.

this is obviously a small mountain but this 2007-2008 season has actually been great. management can not help the arizona weather. i have had nothing but good experiences there with the staff because they are very friendly and helpful especially compared to the staff at sunrise. their terrain park is nothing special but they do have some fairly cool trails that run through the mountains but you have to be a fast boarder to survive or just ski. overall for what they are given every year they do fairly well when there is good snow becasue it is always maintained pretty well and you cant beat the two hour drive from phoenix.

Like a lot of other Arizona residents, I purchased a season pass to Snowbowl, and anxiously awaited for the snow to fall. This never came, unfortunately, and like all of the other season pass holders that year, I was screwed out of over $400 by the end of the season. I did get in a day of skiing though. One, that is. Snowbowl go a "dusting" of snow one weekend in late January which permitted me to use my season pass for one day. The mountain should never have been opened that day though, because the only thing that I left with that day was an empty wallet from the ripoff prices of their cafeteria and a vast amount of scratches on my board bottom due to open rocks, grass, and bare mountain. Not to mention the "low-speed quad" lifts that they have in operation. The lines for Agissaz took about thirty minutes from bottom to top. I've boarded all over the country, and never seen such lines to get up a mountain! Management seemed to feel that this was an appropriate amount of days to qualify as a season, (only two) and refused to refund any season tickets holders. The only thing that they offered was a 75% off for the next season. Why would anyone want to gamble away another 100 dollars on this mountain, only to see another snowless season? If you want my advice, pay a little extra for the Telluride season pass (where you're assured a great season) and make a couple of trips farther north. Bottom line, Snowbowl is a poor mountain at best and should be avoided at all costs. I can't really understand the last reviewers remark about saving the POW for him. You are about as likely to get powder on the mountains of snowbowl, as you are to find powder on Camelback Mountain. I'll save the rocks and board scratches for you though. You'll get your fill of those if you head up to snowbowl. Enjoy the rocks!

I've been sitting here reading the reviews of other people. I would just like to add that most of what others have to say is right on point. I agree with those who say that it is a decent ski experiece, after all we are in Arizona. Those idiots who go up to the mountain and expect to have a Rocky Mountain experience are just not being realistic. I also have noticed that some of the lift operators are not very friendly. Some are just plain not paying attetnion to their job, too busy talking to their pals or on cell phones. For me, that doesn't necessarily ruin the day for me. But for safety sake they really do need to be watching what's going on. The last time I was there, I was not impressed with the rental shop at all. It wasn't busy, yet it took me 45 minutes to get my gear and onto the slopes. Everyone in there acted like it was their job to cause delays, everyone moved like they had no any energy at all. Every single person in there acted like they hated their job ~ no kidding. Oh well, I had a good day just the same. The weather was great, the snow was awesome and the crowds were small. I try to be easy going, but I can clearly see how other's might be upset by the way the people who work at Snowbowl behave. What's with that anyway? I'd think getting to work at a ski area would be way cool ~ I know there's perks involved.

Snowbowl is great to get your ski fix. You drive up from the valley have a great day on the slopes, what more can you ask for.I wish you would reconsider your pricing, when I have to pay full adult price for my 13 yr old grandson, maybe some type of tier pricing like sunrise has.I feel some of your lift operator need p.r. they act like they are doing us a favor by allowing us to ski there. I will continue to support you in your snowmaking effort and keep pushing forward on it so we can have many more years or skiing enjoyment.

There is no need to advertise the discount special during the week since the Agazzi mountain (the main one) won't be open!!!! It is not worth it to spend all day running small trails that take less than 3 minutes to run them all the way down!! Save your money and go somewhere else.

Plan to go elsewhere. There will either be no snow, too many people, or the only good lift will be closed from wind. They need snowmaking, a paved parking lot, a surface lift to the top (poma or ropetow) to avoid wind closures, high speed lifts, a shuttle from town or the mtn base, and once these upgrades are met it will then be mediocre. In it's current state it is horrible and would be better off to not open.

I moved from New England the first of December to Glendale, expecting to give up skiing. Gave away my probe, beacon and shovel to my daughter in Alaska. Big mistake. I drove up to Snowbowl after a dump and had a wonderful time. Mountain inbounds is a great winter fix for someone longing to go skiing. Take it for what it is. An area with much variety, reasonable prices and close to home. Would I spend a week here, no. Will
I keep coming back when they have fresh snow, absolutely. Maby I can borrow some backcountry gear and play out of bounds.

Four of us Senior Citizens drove up from Phoenix to this wonderful resort. The prices were awesome: $26 for each of us over 65 and for Duke who is over 70 he got to ski free. We dropped off our skis at the handy spot next to the ticket window, but mid week were able to park very close. There was no wait to buy tickets. For those who needed to rent, there were adequate facilities and the rental process was relatively quick. The snow was perfect, or at least like we liked it with no ice. There is no snow making equipment at this small resort, but the natural stuff was more than adequate, as the trails were groomed. The best part of this whole experience, other than the picture perfect weather was the very friendly people. There are only four lifts, plus a couple of real beginner lifts, but there is more than adequate terrain for any level of skiier. The road up the mountain was well maintained, with a few patches of black ice, but we did not require chains on the day we were there. All lodging is either in town, or down the mountain, but only 7-10 miles away. We will definately return again, as our experience was very positive.
