I have skied and/ or boarded at the Lake over the years. And have seen the season passes go from free to locos to $876 for Mon. to Thurs., in the course of of 5 years. All complaints aside this place has tons of vert, some decent chutes and of course being twice the mountian of all the loco hills doesn't hurt.
In closing the best choice if your in the area, but all the money saved on not creating SUPER PARK could be better invested by lowering season passes, as not to outprice the little man.

Always cool skiing at Louise, never really had a problem - although that record snowfall B.S. has just got to go. They haven't had a really good dump in a month and a half 'cuz all that "record snow" came really early. I find the ways these guys promote their conditions really insulting - and if you haven't noticed, it isn't getting any cheaper these days!

I did not like skiing Lake Louise. I found it icy and not fun at all. My family agrees with me all the way. There was no real powder when I went there. Plus, the staff were not friendly at all. I do not recommend this ski hill. If you like artifical snow, then have fun. Otherwsie it sucked!!!!!

Since a high pressure system moved in, Lake Louise hadn't seen new snow in a week. But the base accumulated in its record-breaking snow year had everything skiable a few days ago. Conditions ran from packed powder to a bit of hard pack, espcially on high west-facing runs. Groomers were carvy-fast, while off-groomed required concentration--especially to hop a few bare rocks.

Two things make Lake Louise worth skiing in almost any type of snow--the unbeatable views of jagged peaks dripping with glaciers and the terrain. Runs trip downslope using natural rollers, drops, and fall lines. And with the vertical, you just keep skiing, and skiing, and skiing...

Under high clouds, we headed for the back side to test the bowls, but flat light made it a little difficult to discern bumps. We did, however, find a bit of softer snow in front side glades and relished the wild Rockies views across to Mt. Temple and Mt. Victoria. For lunch, we hit the Great Bear in Lodge of Ten Peaks. The three bars--soup/salad, pasta, and meat/potatoes--converted us to pigs; we tried it all. And then the creme brulee dessert, too.

In our post-lunch sluggishness, a few sucker holes gave way to full sun, luring enough skiers back out that there was actually a one-minute wait in the lift line. Atop the gondola, a wedding dress bedecked bride and groom posed for dramatically-backdropped photos. But before they finished, a blizzard descended blowing winds across the summit whipping the veil sideways like a flag.

We may not have caught Louise's earlier legendary powder, but the terrain still was fun to ski. And with 4,200 acres, we didn't even dent what was there.

Lake Louise is having a killer snow season. The January 9 snow report on their site mentioned 3 cm of new snow, but there was at least 8 or 9 in the parking lot at 8:30 and a heck of a lot more up high. I don't think i've ever skiied the usually bullet-proof Men's Downhill in boot-top powder before.

The snow continued all day and was the icing on top of the already deep base that Louise has this year. I skiied stuff I hadn't in years, with the usual barely-hidden rock outcrops buried under the new storm snow. Visibility was a bit tough with the consistent snow, but steep lines on the backside held deep pockets everywhere...ER6, Whitehorn gullies, Ptarmigan trees, ER face and Little 5, Paradise. On the front, Upshoots, Flight Chutes and all the treed stashes around the old eagle Chair liftline were great even at 3 PM. Even the normally firm groomers were sweet.

The pasta bar in the Great Bear Room was awesome for a mid-day refueling.

I LOVE this place, I have been every year for the last 5 years. Stunning scenery, friendly people, great boarding/riding, deserted runs, world class terrain park. I loved it so much i cam back and got married here. It can get cold but if you miss January and beginning of February you should be ok. I would recommend staying in Banff rather than Lake Louise, although it is closer to the slopes there is absolutely nothing to do (i know, i've done it). Banff has all the shops and night life.

We never hire a car as the bus service to all 3 resorts is second to none, if one bus is full there is another right behind, and you can't drink and drive when out at night! The terrain park is designed by some of the best in the world, and takes up nearly a whole run through the tree line. huge kickers and rails and also some for the beginners. The views include the Chateau Lake Louise, the lake itself and the glacier. this is one of the most photographed places in Canada, when you see it for yourself you will know why. Banff has lots of shops and restaurants so you will never get board.. shop til you drop! Pick up a free Banff guide from many outlets, this has everything you could possibly do in Banff written in one small book for you to read.

This is one place not to be missed, guaranteed snow, and with some of the best powder found anywhere in the world. Cheap day trips to the likes of Kicking Horse and Panorama are offered from £40 for lift pass and transport, and highly resommended.

Our trip of 24004- We decided to try the rockies back in Feb 2004 . We stayed at the Hidden ridge and enjoyed the hot tub . We skied Lake loiuse for 2 days . We enjoyed the seinery. The mountains were just out of this world . We noticed Deer in the side streets of Banff and was great to see that . The snow was very good . lots of trails to explore . Im a beginner but I managed to conque the blues and greens . We are going to come back in Feb /07 and stay at the same place . We love Banff . We went to France last year and treasure our own Country and the things we have right here at home . Enjoy Banff its the greatest city for night life any day of the week . One of the bars are always filled with the travelers for the partiers . Thanks Banff for the fun in 2004 and we are coming back for more 2007

Incredible- we just spent a last weekend (Nov 24/25 2006) there and it was unbelievable in every aspect- Record Snowfall, friendly people, huge terrain...what can we say....Our friends have been saying for years that we have to try the Canadian Rockies and we did it and we are very pleased. I would stay in Lake Louise as it so close to ski area , also take a drive into Banff for one afternoon of shopping. We focused all of our ski days at Lake Louise as there is so much terrain to explore from Back Bowls to groomed runs and everything else in between. Good lodging packages with Chateau Lake Louise as well. Lots of fun and scenery to take your breathe away!

Who needs turkey & dressing when you can feast on fresh powder at Thanksgiving?!? My family and I visted Banff last week for the first time and found it simply superb in every respect. Being in Alberta felt a bit like being in Europe - but no jet lag! The mountains are absolutely spectacular, much more dramatic than the Sierras or US Rockies. Steep, sheer cliffs and high alpine lakes abound.

The Lake Louise ski area has fantastic early season snow - I spent most of the weekend in knee deep super-dry powder. The trails tend to be a bit tougher than the corresponding ratings in the US would be. My daughter struggled with some of the greens and I skied numerous blue runs which I'm sure would have black diamond ratings at Heavenly or Breckenridge.

One of the highlights of our visit was watching the World Cup Downhill races taking place at LL last weekend. We even scored some free schwag when we went for dinner at the Chateau Lake Louise, which it turns out was World Cup HQ during the event. There was a street festival in downtown Banff and lots of great deals to be had associated with the "Winterstart World Cup".

Everyone was amazingly friendly, the snow was perfect, slopes almost empty. Only slightly negative part of the experience is the extreme cold. but suck it up, buy a balaclava and ski hard and you won't notice it much. If you've never been to Banff you have to put this one on your list!

This was a highlight of our trip. We had been looking forward to our first helicopter ride, and to take it in the Canadian Rockies was the cherry on top. Only a short 20 minutes from Banff, we got there quickly, and having made reservations, we were quickly ready to go after an introductory video. Our flight was magnificent, soaring over peaks, hovering next to glaciers, and flitting through canyons laden with snow. While the flight wasn't cheap (three fares of C$250 per trip required - we paid for a third empty spot to go), it was awesome. We oohed and ahhed the whole time, with helpful suggestions and banter with our pilot. Needless to say, we shot a lot of pictures and video. This was well worth the time, effort, and money, even if you have to miss a day on the slopes.
