Ways To Save At Northstar

By Dan Giesin on February 5, 2008

Northstar has various methods to cut lift ticket costs.

Sticker shock can be more of a concern than snow depth, with daily adult lift ticket prices topping the $70 mark at many resorts. Northstar, whose basic rack rate is $74, has several ways to ease the cost of skiing and snowboarding. Reno residents can ride for half price Feb. 11-13. Or pass-holders at other Lake Tahoe resorts can get a lift ticket for $59 Monday through Friday. Or kids under 18 can ski and snowboard for $5 on most Sundays (holiday periods excluded) and during Ski and Skate Week Feb. 18-22.

Prices High

You have a nice mountain, but it is not as close as some and has few methods of obtaining a discount. I cannot find a senior or any other 1 day pass deals. All of the discounts I see are for 2 out of three days. I can seldom devote two days to ski and I find the deals not a deal.

Perhaps you can find a way to include seniors as well as under 18 yo skiers in the future. I will plan my next trip to another resort at this time as I have only one day available.

Wow, that last commentator was up at 2:40am he was so upset! Yeah the prices are steep but speaking from someone who has 5 children and everyone drops their kids off at my house to go snowboarding (because I'm the only adult that does, that I know) season passes help. Especially the younger kids passes. We set out last year to examine the area resorts and found Northstar to have what everyone wanted in a snow park. Long runs for me (mom) terrain for the boys and lots of different experiences for beginners (not just one crowded bunny hill) Its worth the money.

What's up with the prices!

Like it matters that you can get a dollar off here and a dollar off there. The fact that you can't walk off the mountain for under a hundred dollars is an outrage! Since when did the patrons deserve this? How many families these days can accually afford to take their kids to the mountain for the weekend? It's cheaper to go to Jamaica! But I'm sure the millionaire CEO's and Presidents really need to gas up their Hummers, I don't mind contributing to a good cause such as that!
