Aspen set a record for the most snowfall ever in December. We arrived a few days later and it was still snowing.
It snowed all day. The condo dwellers dwelt. The skiers skied and packed down powder all over the west side of the mountain. The wind blew too, closing several of the top lifts. Big Burn remained open and The Fam, particularly Carvin' Marvin and yours truely turned and turned. The perky Ellie was fun. Marvin and I happened upon her on the first lift ride. She was from Fort Worth via Austin via Taos and just moved to Aspen; first day at Snowmass. Where should she go, she wondered. Hmmm. Maybe someone we know could show her a couple cool runs. Taos? Gotta be a rippin' skier. She was. Multiple runs down Powerline Glades with beaucoup new snow and more dumping by the second. Long sections with no stops. She's right there. OK, now she has to meet her friend who foolishly slept in. See ya. Campground, nobody around, few tracks, powder mining along the edges of the runs, again and again; jackpot!
It's still snowing.
