The French Alpine village of Arc 1950 has officially opened.
Intrawest’s first European ski resort, Arc 1950, part of the Les Arcs area, officially has been completed and opened, five years after construction began. All property was sold out several years ago. Bright sunny weather welcomed visitors to the village where over 170cm of snow have fallen in recent weeks.
The whole village came to life with circus performers and a host of activities such as dog sledding, ice sculpting, and skijoring to entertain visitors. The official ribbon cutting ceremony took place with all shops offering complimentary mulled wine and hot chocolate for guests who witnessed displays of fireworks above the village, followed by a 1950's-themed gala evening.
Intrawest is now working on a second European resort, at Flaine, also in France.
