Many snowriders have a favorite local mountain that they return to again and again, year after year. They may occasionally visit other resorts, but they spend most of their time at the same place all season.
The Pacific Northwest has so many great mountains, it would be a shame to go through life without seeing a few for yourself.
Why not do what I do? Last season, I picked the state to the north (Washington), and rode every hill with a lift. The season before, I did the same in my home state (Oregon). This season, I have our eastern neighbors (Idaho) in my sights.
I started my grand adventure as a beginner snowboarder, and by my second season, I was seeking out double black diamonds.
I started this season's adventure yesterday, with a visit to Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood. Timberline is famous for their year-round, 305 days a year skiing. After some fresh snowfall earlier in October, the Palmer Snowfield was in good shape, and with beautiful weather, it was the perfect day for some late/early season turns.
