Spanish Government Rejects Super-Tram Plan

The Spanish Ministry for the Environment has come out against a plan to build the longest cable car in the world to the Sierra Nevada ski area. The resort had proposed the idea of constructing a 12 mile long tram line from the nearby coastal city of Granada up to the ski slopes, cutting the need for tens of thousands of car journeys daily.

A final environmental report is yet to be published and the debate may yet continue although the Spanish Government has initially opposed the plan, due to its perceived impact on National Park land in the area.
