Despite a serious avalanche risk that closed the Mt. Baker Highway on Feb. 9, the show went on at the Legendary Banked Slalom.
The closure forced the cancellation of the competition’s second day and the change in weather, while good for the highway, wasn’t so good for mountain conditions.
“The snow was kind of gross,” said Jacob Malley. “We all had a great time, though. This is still one of the coolest events in the world and no road closure can change that.”
The winners on the pro side of the LBS were Maelle Ricker and Temple Cummins.
