The third major snow storm in a month dumped 18 inches of new snow on Killington just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. With numerous events over the next several weekends Killington guests should have some great spring skiing and plenty to keep them entertained or challenged.

A reprise of the Valentines Day storm dropped a foot to a foot and a half of fresh powder on resorts all over Vermont last Friday. Mt. Snow and Stratton in the southern part of the state reported 14 to 15 inches of the white stuff while Killington piled up a whopping 20 inches on the mountain. Further north Stowe, Smugglers Notch and Jay Peak all saw dumps of 13” to 17”.

American Skiing Company (ASC) has entered into an agreement to sell its two remaining resorts in Vermont, Killington and Pico, to SP Land Company for $83.5 million.

Mild temps and lack of snow made for mixed reviews of the holiday vacation period in Vermont. While a few areas had to close part way through the week before re-opening just before New Years, others reported surprisingly good numbers, all things considered.

Killington will kick off their 2006/07 season on Thanksgiving Day. The Vermont resort expects to have top to bottom skiing and riding off Killington Peak and Snowdon Mountain.
