It's still cold in Ontario, and the ski areas are holding on to the snow they have. Still there's talk of Spring and the potential for rising temperatures despite the forecast of additional snowfall before season end.

It's snowing in Ontario with ski areas there welcoming as much as six inches of new snow, and glad to get it, too. Glen Eden, Chicopee, and Blue Mountain are leading the pack as far as new snowfall.

If you don’t think the new travel rules for Canadian border crossings aren’t having an effect you don’t have to look much further than the Heartland. Searchmont Resort, which sits just above Michigan near Sault Ste. Marie, used to rely heavily on Michigan and Chicagoland skiers and riders for business.

Light snow fell across parts of Ontario today, giving some local ski areas a fresh layer of white for skiers and boarders to romp in. This shot is from Mt. St. Louis-Moonstone, where mid-week riders played in a inch of new snow.

More snow fell on Ontario today though local forecasters predict a brief warming spate followed by chilling temperatures and then more snow.

Temperatures dropped to the -20 to -30 degree celsius range in Ontario overnight as Winter descended on Eastern Canada - reminding residents of what it's like to live in one of the coldest spots in the world.

Ontario's largest ski area is pinning its hopes for kicking off its 2007 season on a new front of cold air moving down into the region - cold enough for them to make snow, at least, if not for it to actually snow on its own.
